Farcu Cave (the Cave of Crystals) - Discovered in 1987 during the expansion of the Farcu Mining Gallery, the Crystal Cave in the Farcu Mine is 251 meters long and 16 meters high. Initially, it was celebrated as a true treasure due to its rich speleothems and the variety and shapes of its crystals. Unfortunately, after its discovery, the cave suffered damage from the breaking and destruction of its crystals. Recent explorations have restored the Crystal Cave in the Farcu Mine to its status as one of Romania’s most beautiful caves. Visitors can explore 200 meters of mining galleries, which include a mining museum, and 100 meters of cave galleries with water-sculpted walls adorned with unique formations and crystals. The tour concludes at a balcony offering views of the crystal reserve, featuring the renowned Farcu discs and “crystal dragonflies.”

Meziad Cave - Meziad Cave, one of Romania’s oldest and most renowned tourist attractions, was first documented by the esteemed Austrian geographer Adolf SCHMIDL in 1863. The cave is notable for the discovery of cave bear bones (Ursus spelaeus), which date back 300,000 years and disappeared 12,000 years ago at the end of the last glaciation. The cave’s unique fauna, including bats, butterflies, spiders, crustaceans, and beetles, adds to its distinctiveness. It features stunning formations such as stalactites, stalagmites, columns, and draperies.
