- Jahangir Mahal - Constructed in honor of Mughal Emperor Jahangir, this palace exudes royal charm. Built by Raja Bir Singh Deo in the 17th century, it boasts significant historical allure. The palace’s walls feature strong lines, complemented by delicate chhatris and trellis work, offering a sparkling medieval appearance. As a major tourist attraction, the monument radiates extraordinary richness.
- Ram Raja Temple - The Ram Raja Temple is unique in India, where Rama is worshipped as a king in a palace. According to legend, Queen Ganesh Kunwari, wife of Orchha’s King Madhukar Shah Ju Dev, vowed to bring back the child form of Ram from Ayodhya or drown herself in the Sarayu River. After a month of fasting and praying near the river, Lord Ram appeared in child form in her lap. Pleased with her devotion, he granted her a boon. She requested him to accompany her to Orchha in child form. Ram agreed, with three conditions: “I will travel only in Pukh Nakshatra. Once in Orchha, I will be the King. The first place you seat me will be my permanent abode, known as Ramraja.”
- Lakshmi Temple - The Laxmi Narayan Temple, an exceptional fusion of temple and fort architecture, was built during Raja Bir Singh Deo’s reign using lime mortar and bricks. The temple’s walls feature frescos and paintings that blend Mughal and Bundel art styles, depicting social and secular themes. Inside, geometric carvings and scenes from Lord Krishna’s life are adorned with flowers and animals.
