- Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area - As the nation’s second National Scenic Area, the Columbia River Gorge is the largest and most densely populated, offering urban amenities alongside the stunning beauty of nature. This area is rich with stories: of tribal people fishing and trading along its banks; of Lewis and Clark’s historic 1805-06 expedition; of pioneers navigating its rapids; and of Samuel Hill promoting the nation’s first scenic highway, attracting generations of visitors. It’s no wonder the Columbia River Gorge is celebrated as one of the 7 Wonders of Oregon. The tour will drive through this area to explore the Gorge.
- Columbia River Highway - Built between 1913 and 1922, the seventy-four-mile Columbia River Highway stretches east from the Sandy River near Troutdale to The Dalles. With its innovative road design, it stands as a remarkable example of modern highway development in twentieth-century America. The tour will travel along this highway to explore the Gorge.
- Vista House - Situated atop one of the most scenic overlooks in the Columbia River Gorge, Vista House offers a breathtaking view of the Gorge. Often called “The Crown Jewel of the Columbia River Gorge,” Vista House was constructed between 1916 and 1918 as a tribute to Oregon pioneers, a scenic viewpoint, and a rest stop for travelers on the newly built Historic Columbia River Highway. The Vista House and its view are sure to inspire and amaze visitors.
- Latourell Falls - This stunning waterfall cascades 249 feet (76 m) over a vast basalt wall and flows through the forest into the Columbia River. Latourell Falls is framed by some of the finest columnar basalt formations in the Pacific Northwest, adorned with a vibrant patch of yellow lichen and surrounded by lush green flora. The tour will venture down to the punch-bowl pool below the falls, where the powerful rush of water and cool mist can be experienced. It’s easy to see why this special place is one of Oregon’s most photographed waterfalls.
- Multnomah Falls - Fed by underground streams originating miles above on Larch Mountain, this ancient 620-foot (189 m) waterfall is divided into two sections; the upper falls drops an impressive 542 feet into a pool, then falls another 69 feet to form a creek that flows into the Columbia River. Multnomah Falls is the second highest year-round waterfall in the United States and the tallest in Oregon, attracting over 2.5 million visitors annually from around the globe. At the base of the waterfall is the Historic Multnomah Falls Lodge, a full-service day lodge with a restaurant, gift shop, snack and espresso bar, and interpretative center. Visitors will have time to walk to Benson Bridge and explore the lodge.
- Pioneer Courthouse Square - Located in the heart of downtown Portland, Pioneer Courthouse Square is an urban park central to events, community, and all things Portland. The tour will drive around this remarkable location, and the guide will share its history, allowing visitors to return later for further exploration.
- International Rose Test Garden - The fragrance of the Rose Garden will captivate visitors with over 550 different varieties of roses, and delight the senses with the lush and beautiful Washington Park, offering some of the most stunning Cascade Mountain views. Visitors will have time to explore the garden and enjoy the roses.
- Washington Park - Washington Park is a unique and special place, filled with gardens, museums, a zoo, and a forest, right in the heart of the city. The opportunities for exploration in the park are endless. The tour will drive through part of the park, encouraging visitors to return for more exploration.
- Pearl District - One of Portland’s most sought-after neighborhoods, the Pearl District is home to some of the city’s top chefs and restaurants, world-class art galleries, and vibrant shops and boutiques. Once a neglected area of abandoned warehouses and railways, the Pearl District has gained a global reputation for urban renewal.
- PSU Farmers Market - The PSU Farmers Market is a premier farmers market that supports local food growers and producers, creating a lively community gathering space. The Portland Farmers Market at Portland State spans almost three blocks across the Portland State University campus, offering a wide variety of vendors for everyone to enjoy. The market features a Veggie Valet for shoppers to leave their bulk purchases while they continue shopping. It also hosts musicians and a Chef in the Market series, showcasing local chefs cooking with seasonal market ingredients. The PSU Farmers Market will be visited on the Morning Portland City Tour, allowing visitors time to explore the market. This will be the final stop of the tour, so visitors are welcome to stay, have lunch, and explore at their leisure.
