Local legends abound about Kızkumu. It is said that the grave of a beautiful young girl lies at the end of Kızkumu, giving the place its name, which translates to ‘the sand of the girl’ in Turkish.
As people walk along this 600-meter path in the sea, both locals and visitors make wishes, believing they will come true.

Turgut Selalesi - Located between Bayir and Turgut, the Selale can be reached by traveling 5 kilometers from Bayir towards Turgut, where a ‘Selale’ sign marks the turn. Just 200 meters from the main road, you’ll find the waterfall. While not the largest or tallest, it is charming and offers a refreshing spot to rest. The Marmaris Waterfall stands just over 4 meters tall and is quite narrow. The surrounding area is a wide valley filled with forests and lush greenery, providing a cooler climate than its surroundings, making it an ideal visit on a hot summer day. The waterfall’s ice-cold waters are perfect for a swim in the small lake below. Nearby, a 300-year-old watermill is an intriguing site to explore.

Bayır - Bayir village is renowned for its ancient plane tree, the remnants of the ancient City of Syrna, and its mosque. It’s delightful to pause and enjoy coffee, tea, or ayran (a yogurt drink) under the massive plane tree in the village square.
The village boasts a historical plane tree that is 2300 years old, attracting many travelers. Visitors often take photos with the tree and enjoy a drink of ayran.
According to legend, walking once around the old plane tree extends one’s life, a claim inscribed on the tree’s identity disc.
