• Pozzo della Cava - Embark on an intriguing underground adventure in Orvieto’s medieval district, exploring caves brimming with Etruscan, Medieval, and Renaissance archaeological treasures, uncovered through the dedicated efforts of the owning family.
  The well is an expansive cavity in the tuff, excavated by Pope Clement VII between 1527 and 1530, expanding upon an Etruscan well. It was closed to the public in 1646 and rediscovered after centuries of neglect.
  In the nine caves surrounding the well, visitors can also discover a medieval pottery workshop featuring numerous majolica artifacts and ceramicists’ tools, small medieval pits used for waste disposal, an Etruscan cistern, a Medieval wine cellar, and remnants of ancient Etruscan burial tombs.
