A wonderful experience! - My fiancée and I attended this class during our trip to Japan and had such a lovely time! We appreciated how Satoko did such an amazing job clearly explaining not only how to make the sweets, but also how their history and symbolism are rooted in Japanese culture. We attended this class with one other person, and despite our fumbling she was incredibly patient with us. She even took pictures during the class and sent them to us after the fact! The sweets themselves were very tasty, especially the ichigo daifuku. I highly recommend this class with Satoko to anyone who would like to learn about sweets and sweets making with a knowledgeable teacher!

Wonderful and delicious experience! - I had an incredible experience in this mochi and nerikiri-making class! Our teacher, Satoko, was very kind and knowledgeable. The class was a good mix of learning not only about the cooking methods themselves, but also about the history of mochi and the culture behind these delicious sweets. I booked a single spot and was pleasantly surprised to join two other people - it's fun to join a group when solo-traveling. You also get to enjoy eating your mouth-watering creations with a bowl of matcha to balance the sweetness. I highly recommend this class!

Joyful Japanese Dessert Lesson - Me and my wife had an amazing time experiencing local cultural Japanese desert. The lessons for were all prepared and explained clearly. We got instructs for each step and teaching was always cautiously observing and assisting. History behind the desert was very interesting. What I liked the most was that each lesson has a full recipe and well written instructions, as well as where to get needed tools

Cheryl Berry- Smith from the USA - I would like to express that the Mochi, Nerikiri, and Matcha class was exceptionally impressive. The instructor, Sakura, demonstrated a high level of professionalism. She was not only courteous and welcoming but also exhibited remarkable patience throughout the session. Sakura, gave us an awesome history of mochi. We were able to interact during her presentation as well and fully appreciate the history of mochi. Then came the exciting part, making mochi sweets and enjoying a cup of matcha. If you are in Tokyo or the surrounding areas, this is a must, you will not be disappointed. Thank you, Sakura, for an amazing experience. Love, Cheyl

Amazing Mochi and Nerikiri Wagashi Cooking Class for Beginners! - I had no cooking experience at all, but this class was so easy to follow! Ms. Satoko, the teacher, gave very clear and simple instructions that made everything fun and stress-free. By the end of the class, I could make real Japanese sweets all by myself, and I felt so proud and happy about it! The class size was small, so Ms. Satoko gave each of us plenty of personal attention. She was also super thoughtful and helped take photos and videos for me whenever my hands were busy, so I could have great memories of the experience. I really wish I had more time in Japan to join one of her certificate courses. If you’re visiting Japan and want to try something cultural and fun, this class is absolutely perfect! 🍡🎉

Creative Mochi-Nerikiri course with a personal atmosphere - I attended the Mochi-Nerikiri class, and it was a fantastic experience. There were only two of us, which created a very personal and pleasant atmosphere. The teacher was extremely friendly and spoke excellent English, which not only made it easier to understand, but also made interesting conversations possible. Thanks to their patient guidance, our Nerikiri works became truly beautiful – like small works of art that wouldn’t seem out of place in a Japanese candy store. The course was very varied and educational; we learned different tools and techniques to create these artful sweets. In the end we were even able to take home our homemade Nerikiri. Overall, it was a wonderful experience that I can warmly recommend to anyone interested in Japanese sweets and culture.

Fun dessert-making experience with lovely host - I’ve enjoyed matcha with wagashi nerikiri, the delicate sweets that they are often served with, at a few gardens in Japan. I was curious how they were made so I signed up for this class together with my sister. Satoko-san, provides clear directions to her home in the Tokyo suburbs. The class begins with an overview of the history of mochi and nerikiri followed by hands on mochi making from scratch. For nerikiri, Satoko-san had prepared the white bean paste filling and nerikiri dough in advance. It’s a rather time consuming process. She taught us how to wrap the filling in dough and use the triangle stick to create a cute hydrangea and leaf with ladybug design. At the end we enjoyed swishing our own matcha and eating our creations. Satoko-san is a lovely host and teacher and shared helpful information on where to get supplies for wagashi. My sister, who doesn’t cook much, enjoyed the class a lot and we enjoyed getting to know the two other lovely travellers that day. Satoko-san was very generous with her time and helped us all figure out how to get to our next destination. When I returned home to Singapore I had no problem replicating the dango mochi as I could recall the correct texture from the hands-on part of the class. I have yet to try the strawberry daikfuku. I was inspired to try making nerikiri too, but found that more challenging as I had to watch several videos to understand how to make it on a stove top. The recipe links provided in the class give instructions for using a microwave. However, after some research and trial and error, I managed to make something similar and even had a fun day making wagashi with a friend. Now, she’s going to get the supplies to try it on her own! So all in all, this class was a great inspiration to kick off my Wagashi journey. Thank you Satoko-san for your warm hospitality, patience and advice!
