Ksar Ait Ben Haddou - Very good guide for Ait Ben Haddou in traditional costume and multi languages. We are of course directed to some shops but that is business. On top of it all!

Definitely worth going - Hat a pleasant journey and an very interesting day. Our guide and driver Ayoub drove us safely through the atlas mountains and made sure that everyone was always taken care of. And thanks for taking all those fotos of me in the mountains! The visit to Ait Ben Hadou was fascinating and very interesting, our guide Ali provided lots of information about the old city and the Berber culture. He also made sure that we got enough water as it was a hot day Was definitely worth going and one of my best trips during my time in Marrkech

Good but very long drives ! - The trip itself was really fun and it was really interesting to visit the Berber village. Some things to note : This is a very long trip over 10 hrs ! - we were picked up around 7.15am and didn’t get back till 9pm . In the morning after being picked up at 7.15am we spent 1 hour picking up other people before a 4 hrs drive to the Berber village - ( you do stop for a toilet break and a viewing point) . The drive is very picturesque but the van got very hot - the AC did not work very well. You don’t have to pay to visit the village but when you arrive a local guide it right there as the van door opens ! and you can’t really say no so you have to pay him for entry /a tip. 4euros pp to enter the village and then a guide tip on top of that . We think you could have just walked in but obviously you wouldn’t have got all the information and our guide was very good so we were glad we did this . You have around 1 hr at the village and then lunch . Lunch is good and 130 dirham extra . Then you drive to the atlas studios another 45 mins or so - it’s 8euro pp to enter - it’s really interesting so we would recommend it . Then you drive back to the city and stop once for a toilet break . We didn’t get back into the city until 9pm at night ! It’s a really good trip just be aware it’s over 10 hrs and extra 16 euro and 130 dirhams for the activities and lunch .

Bland food - This trip is essentially a long bus transfer with no guided tour or commentary provided during the ride. If you’re expecting information or insights about the places you’re visiting, you’ll be disappointed. Aït Benhaddou is definitely worth seeing, it’s a beautiful and historic UNESCO World Heritage site. However, the tour fails to inform you in advance that you’ll need to pay an extra 40 dirhams per person to enter the site (which we paid after). That should have been mentioned upfront. Be prepared to skip the included lunch stop. The restaurant they bring you to gives you no other option but to purchase a fixed 3-course meal for around 140 dirhams per person. The food was very bland and underwhelming, not worth the price. Overall, the sites are great, but this tour lacks transparency and should be clearer about what’s included and what’s not. If you’re okay with just a ride to the locations and handling the rest yourself, it might be fine.

Worst tour in Morocco - The driver is not a guide so the only time that you actually have a guide is at Ait Benhaddou. You are raced around a very well worn path in the town and get to sit down in a painting shop and then a carpet shop before being whisked back across the river to buy lunch. One couple purchased two paintings and paid cash for one with the balance to be paid by card in one of the shops. By the time we got to the shop, the price had gone up and the guy denied receiving the initial payment! Fortunately the couple stuck to the original agreement and the correct amount of money was paid. Then there was the conflict over lunch. I knew my ticket said that lunch wasn’t included, but the guide presented the menu saying that we were to choose what we wanted but drinks weren’t included. Some of the group took this to mean that lunch actually was included while one couple were adamant that lunch was included on their original ticket and refused to pay any more. This caused a lot of stress for the restaurant staff. We had been told that we would have to pay 30 dirhams for going into the town and the guide collected this while adding “and a little something for the guide”. You can’t walk around by yourself in the town for more than a few minutes and you certainly can’t see inside any of the structures although most are now empty. There was no sense of history or any passion for the town. The focus is on buying paintings or carpet and then lunch.
