Brilliant day out with a great and genuine guide - We booked this trip after a guest our hotel had done the same thing the previous day and said what a great time they’d had. We booked the Atlas tour and 5 valleys via Expedia, we were a little worried we would be herded with lots of people, however we were very lucky in that our trip was just the two of us and our amazing guide Abdul! Abdul greeted us at our hotel with a massive smile and friendly nature. Abdul explained the day ahead and made sure we were comfortable in the 4x4 (it was just me and my partner). The trip went to a Berber market (which was brilliant to see and is an authentic market for the locals, it was a refreshing change from the souks seeing the barbers, doctors and butchers in the market). Abdul saved us after we got ourselves into a little bother with a local and he helped us and got our money back from the gentleman who assured us was getting change! This isn’t somewhere we would have visited on our own and was a brilliant experience, but we are very grateful to our Abdul for helping us. We also visited a small women’s cooperative for argan oil, a pottery place and stopped for mint tea at the river. Abdul explained there was no pressure to buy anything we were simply being shown different crafts. The staff at each venue also didn’t push any sales. After a few hours making stops for photos and seeing the incredible mountains and valleys we stopped for our lunch. This by far was the highlight in a traditional Berber house, we sat on a patio with blankets (it was 8 degrees!) and was served the best food we’ve had in Morocco cooked by a local woman and helped by her son. We had chicken tajin, couscous, fruit, cookies, bottled water and mint tea. Abdul our guide went the extra mile at every opportunity and gave me his coat as I was woefully unprepared for the cold weather in the mountains, this was despite himself fasting and being cold too. He also stopped to get my partner some aloe Vera for her sunburn the previous day. Abdul made the trip and after a difficult experience in the few days before in Marrakech Abdul gave us a great time. We would highly recommend the tour as a break from Marrakech and to gain a good understanding of real Moroccan life. If you are lucky enough to have Abdul then you will be looked after and have a lovely time. Our trip lasted from 9am-4pm. Thank you Abdul!
