• African Penguin & Seabird Sanctuary - The African Penguin & Seabird Sanctuary (APSS) is a state-of-the-art marine bird rehabilitation center located in the Overstrand area. It provides temporary rehabilitative care to sick, displaced, injured, oiled, and abandoned marine birds, with a special focus on the endangered African Penguin. The sanctuary’s efforts in marine bird rescue, rehabilitation, and release are part of a conservation management plan aimed at preserving African Penguin populations and other seabirds. Through ongoing research, education, and awareness programs, the sanctuary strives to reduce human impacts on these colonies.
