- Oświęcim - Begin the tour by entering through the gate of the first camp, Auschwitz I, initially designed as a concentration camp and used as a detention center for numerous Polish citizens arrested following the country’s annexation by Germany in 1939. The iconic sign “Arbeit Macht Frei” (Work sets you free) is prominently displayed. This section typically lasts 2 hours, and participants will use earphones to clearly hear the guide. In accordance with Museum regulations, the group is limited to 30 people, ensuring a comfortable and accessible visit for everyone. Explore the original wooden buildings, fortified walls, barbed wire, gas chambers, and crematoria, all of which leave a profound impression, helping to comprehend the scale of the Holocaust.
- Brzezinka - Following the first camp, there is a brief break of up to 15 minutes. Participants will then proceed to the second part of the tour, Birkenau (Auschwitz II), located just 3 minutes away. This is the largest camp, constructed and operated with the specific aim of making Europe “Judenrein” (free of Jews). The same guide will continue with an impactful field conference in the village of Brzezinka, established in 1941 under orders from Heinrich Himmler (SS commander), with a capacity for approximately 90,000 prisoners. Participants will hear harrowing stories of unimaginable living conditions, cruel selection processes, and pseudoscientific medical experiments conducted by notorious Nazi doctors, including Josef Mengele. The tour concludes with a narrative about the soldiers of the 60th Army of the Ukrainian First Front, who liberated Auschwitz on January 27, 1945, leaving participants with the conviction that such genocide should never have occurred and must never happen again.
