The same guide will continue with a moving lecture about the camp in the village of Brzezinka (Birkenau), which was built in 1941 under the orders of Heinrich Himmler (SS commander) and could accommodate approximately 90,000 prisoners. Visitors will hear harrowing stories of the appalling living conditions, brutal selections, and pseudo-scientific medical experiments conducted by notorious Nazi doctors, including Josef Mengele.
