Auschwitz-Birkenau Memorial and Museum and Wieliczka Salt Mine Tour with Legendary Krakow - In September 2025 we took a combined trip to Auschwitz-Birkenau and Wieliczka Salt Mine with Legendary Krakow. We were very hesitant to combine two such drastically different experiences in one day, but didn't have other options, having only a few days in Krakow.
The day turned out to be one of the most memorable ones. The trip was organized superbly - from the pick up at our hotel (with the seats we asked for saved for us on the van) to the very last minute when the driver Matt left us with more recommendations and directions for the time we have left to spend on our own. Matt took a very good care of everyone in our group throughout the day, making sure we all go to the right queues, pick up the right materials, eat good lunch, are warm and comfortable... He also shared a lot of details about everyday life in Poland, answered every question and made us feel very welcome!
I have no adequate words to describe Auschwitz-Birkenau Memorial, and our experience there. Having read hundreds of books, seeing dozens of movies, I thought I'd be prepared. Nowhere close. It is a very powerful, totally heartbreaking experience, beyond comprehension, that leaves you speechless. And yet a must for everyone. Our guide Agnieszka was very good and passionate - the type of educator who, having done these tours hundreds of times, doesn't have it dulled, and still has this anger about what had happened.
Wieliczka Salt Mine is a unique place. In a way this combo tour and seeing Wieliczka after Auschwitz was a sort of therapeutic arrangement, helping to stay sane.
Highly recommended, both the tour and Legendary Krakow.

Auschwitz and Salt mine - Our driver was great. He spoke really good English and guided us clearly. He was really attentive and made sure everything ran smoothly.
Auschwitz was worth seeing, although it was a scary and awfull place. The guide on this tour spoke a bit in a mumble, so it was hard to understand his English.
The salt mine was more magnificent and incredible than we expected. A really good and clear guide on the tour.
We didn't have to queue much anywhere, the tours started on time and ran smoothly.
A long day, which was all in all a great and smooth experience. We can highly recommend it!

Visit Krakow salt mines - We went to the salt mines alone.
With pick-up point in the center of Krakow.
Driver Jacob was very friendly and professional.
Very nice mines. You have to exercise a lot to get down all the stairs.
But it's worth it.
At the end of the visit Jacob recommended a great restaurant.

A ride and a salty descent through history - Michael picked us up with quite a few other people to take us to the Salt Mine. The pickup spot was an easy find just outside the old town part of Krakow. Luckily, we got to sit in front with Michael, who was friendly, and shared his thoughts and experiences about life in Krakow. After a somewhat long wait- inevitable with the kind of crowds the Salt Mine attracts, we entered the mine. Now we had a new guide specific to our language, who managed, with the help of some staticky little auditory aids they passed out to everyone, to take a very large crowd through the mine with no hiccups. The Salt Mine was utterly magnificent, and our guide was brilliant- I should have asked his name. Michael waited patiently for us all to arrive back at the bus to pick us up, and because we had been herded to the farthest away exit from the mine, and had to find our way back to the meeting place, we were the last ones to get to the bus. In fact, we were a little lost, having failed in our attempt to drop a pin in Google Maps, but he called us and helped us find our way. Absolutely jolly and forgiving about our lateness, Michael drove us back to the meeting spot. Everything was excellently organized. We were happy.

Great tour, took the entire day, but worth it especially with Jordan as your driver - Could not have been a better experience. The tour took the entire day, but the take away experiences were amazing. The driver/tour operator Jordan was absolutely fantastic and deserves great praise. He was extremely driven, helpful, and absolutely the best driver. He definitely made the trip carefree and relaxing. If you schedule this tour ask for Jordan!

Two must-sees in a day-long tour - Although the combination makes for a long day, these are two of the must-see attractions in the Kraków area, and maybe even all of Poland. The mine has been in operation for hundreds of years and features some amazing artwork, sculpted from rock salt. Auschwitz - Birkenau a sober reminder of human capacity for brutality and barbarity. Although a traveler could probably arrange his own transportation and entry, this would come with significant effort and loss of convenience. Our driver Jakub coordinated with the sites, gave clear instructions, and was very anxious to please.
