Shemokmedi Monastery - The Shemokmedi Monastery is a Georgian Orthodox monastery situated in the village of Shemokmedi in Georgia’s southwestern region of Guria. Established in the 15th century, it served as a bishopric seat and the burial site for the Gurieli princely dynasty. The monastery was a repository for church treasures and amassed a significant collection of artifacts from other Georgian monasteries over the centuries. Some of the collection that survived 19th-century thefts is now exhibited in Georgia’s museums.

Kolkheti National Park - Kolkheti National Park is situated in Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti and Guria, within the historical region of Colchis in western Georgia. The Central Kolkheti wetlands are designated as a Wetland of International Importance, a Ramsar Site. The park spans a coastal plain on the Black Sea, between the Tikori and Supsa rivers, covering the districts of Zugdidi, Khobi, Lanchkhuti, Senaki, and Abasha. Established in 1998 and 1999 as part of Georgia’s Integrated Coastal Management Project, supported by the World Bank and the Global Environmental Facility, Kolkheti National Park encompasses 28,940 hectares, with protected wetlands extending to 33,710 hectares. It includes the former 500-hectare Kolkheti State Nature Reserve, established in 1947, and its surrounding wetlands, including Lake Paliastomi.
