Phuket Elephant Sanctuary is the pioneering ethical elephant sanctuary in Phuket, where elephants can freely roam, bathe, and socialize across 30 acres of lush, tropical land adjacent to the Khao Phra Thaeo National Park in North East Phuket. The sanctuary purchases all rescued elephants to ensure it becomes their permanent home, providing professional veterinary care for elderly and injured elephants. By visiting, guests support a sustainable, ethical, and compassionate model of elephant tourism, allowing elephants to live naturally. A special way to spend day in Phuket - What a way to spend a day, hanging out with these amazing giant animals at the Phuket elephant sanctuary. These rescued elephants get to roam freely across acres of jungle, eating and bathing as they like. It’s a far cry from the start in life they had until now. The sanctuary has a wonderful space and you can see that it’s been designed with the elephants in mind and you do feel like you are in their home. It even has its very own elephant hospital too!
It’s amazing to have a local organisation in Phuket offer tourists an ethical way of spending time with these beautiful animals while also supporting the rescuing of others and providing a final home for retired working elephants.
If you ever visit Phuket, this place should definitely be on your to visit list

highlight of my trip by far!!! - top 5 life experiences ever. such great service and food and tour guide was so knowledgeable about every elephant. i will probably think about feeding the elephants for the rest of my life.

Afternoon at the elephant sanctuary - This was one of the best experiences ever. It’s awesome to support a sanctuary that proudly prioritizes its elephants, their wellbeings, and ethical tourism. Would highly recommend! The buffet meal was also delicious.

Best place ever! - We had the most wonderful afternoon at Phuket Elephant Sanctuary and thoroughly recommend it. It is completely ethical and the dedicated levels of care of the elephants is both heartwarming and impressive. The staff are so welcoming and our tour guide was fabulous. it is truly an amazing and very special place. Highly recommended.

Heart warming visit - Amazing experience and a truly remarkable place. You really can tell the elephants are well looked after and have the freedom to do as they please. The guides were very knowledgable and funny too. Could have done without the heartbreaking video but it’s all relative in spreading awareness 😭

Enjoyable and educational - This was a lifelong dream for me and it didn't disappoint. I didn't want to bathe or sit on elephants, or make them perform. It was always important for me to see elephants in a natural environment with no chains. These elephants have had a tough life of abuse to entertain us. It was a wonderful educational experience and a joy to see these elephants enjoying the land with respite and care. Definitely worth doing with all the family.

A Heartwarming Afternoon at the Elephant Sanctuary - Our family (two adults and two young kids) had the pleasure of joining the afternoon session at this incredible Elephant Sanctuary. From the moment we were picked up at our hotel, everything ran like clockwork. The transfer was seamless, and the entire visit was thoughtfully organised from start to finish.
The sanctuary itself is a peaceful haven, and it was clear that the elephants are well cared for and respected. The presentation and walk with our guide were engaging for all ages and our kids were absolutely thrilled. Whether it was feeding (a highlight for the kids), learning about the elephants’ names, or simply observing these gentle giants in their natural environment, we enjoyed every moment.
Well worth the money, not just for the experience, but for supporting a place that genuinely prioritises animal welfare and education. Highly recommended for families looking for an ethical, educational, and joyful encounter with elephants.

Amazing, heart-warming place. - Amazing, heart-warming place. Loved by the kids and adults alike. A fantastic facility built here for the elephants and for us visitors to enjoy. Super friendly, informed and funny guides. We get so close to the elephants but at a safe distance and no touching or bathing to distress them like other places. True care and love on show everywhere.

Fantastic, ethically run sanctuary where you can meet the elephants close up in their natural habitat - What a fantastic place! We loved meeting the elephants, each with its own distinct personality, and walking with them in the jungle. It was wonderful to be able to get so close to them, and the guide took care to make sure we were safe at all times. He told us interesting details about how they were mistreated earlier in their lives by working in the tourism and logging industries, and how they were rescued, to now live out their retirement in their natural habitat. Skip the tourist spots and visit this ethically run sanctuary, where the entrance fees go toward rescuing more elephants. You won’t regret it. Highly recommend!
