• Plaisir de Merle - On the way to the charming town of Franschhoek, stop at Plaisir de Merle, located at the foot of Simonsberg Mountain. Established by Charles Marais in 1693, the estate boasts a rich winemaking tradition and French heritage. The manicured lawns, ancient oak trees, and panoramic views create a picturesque setting for wine lovers. Enter the tasting room, set in a delightful 1823 barn, and savor some of the estate’s finest wines while enjoying stunning valley views. • Franschhoek - Lunch is in the gourmet capital of South Africa – Franschhoek – approximately 5 miles (8 km) away. Your private guide will highlight the best sidewalk cafes and restaurants, then leave you to enjoy lunch at your own expense.

Franschhoek, South Africa’s culinary capital, with its array of eateries, is a must-visit for food lovers, and on weekends, the local farmer’s market invites with vibrant stalls, delicious aromas, and live music. You’ll have time to absorb the history of the French Huguenots who arrived in the 17th century, perhaps catch an impromptu church choir performance in the street, shop for knick-knacks and bric-a-brac along the main street, or savor a charcuterie plate and delightful local creations.
