  Meet the guide at the accommodation in central Cape Town, and embark on a full-day tour of the Paarl, Stellenbosch, and Franschhoek Winelands in a comfortable, air-conditioned minivan.

The wine experts have meticulously crafted this tour to offer a genuine taste of the Cape winelands. Enjoy sampling local products, learning about flavor profiles and vintages, and relaxing while tasting some of South Africa’s finest wines amidst stunning vineyard views.
The day begins on the south-western slopes of the Paarl Mountain Range, where breathtaking views and a farmer’s tasting experience await at the renowned Fairview Estate. Here, artisanal cheese from the onsite cheesery is paired with exquisite reds and whites, providing an extraordinary pairing experience enhanced by detailed insights into the wines being tasted.

• Franschhoek Wine Tram - Official Site (Franschhoek Terminal) - Proceed to the charming town of Franschhoek to explore the region’s beauty aboard a vintage-style railway tram. Enjoy a glass of world-famous wine from the surrounding vineyards, with a stop at a local wine estate - either Rickety Bridge or Plaisir Wine Estate, depending on the train’s daily route and availability. The tram ride typically lasts about 5 minutes to the wine tasting farm.
• Franschhoek - With wine flowing, it’s easy to build up a hearty appetite, so head down country lanes lined with lush vineyards to the foothills of the Franschhoek Valley for a well-deserved lunch break. Whether it’s the weekend farmer’s market or a sunny roadside cafe in Franschhoek’s old town, embrace the moment and enjoy free time in South Africa’s culinary capital, with its array of dining options. There will be time to absorb the town’s history and learn about the French Huguenots who arrived in the 17th century; explore art galleries and arts & crafts shops for souvenirs along the main street, and enjoy lunch at a deli or street corner cafe.
• Rickety Bridge Winery - Upon arriving at the local winery’s train platform, disembark for a short walk to the farm’s tasting room.

The standard route typically includes a stop at the historic Rickety Bridge. Relax and enjoy an included Estate Wine Tasting, savoring three favorites with stunning valley views as a backdrop. On days when the Franschhoek Wine Tram route heads towards the Simonsberg Mountains, the tram stops at the picturesque Plaisir Wine Estate for an included tasting to sample a selection of three of their estate range wines.

• Muratie - Just north of Stellenbosch, nestled in a scenic corner of the Knorhoek Valley, lies one of South Africa’s oldest wine farms, Muratie, established in 1685. Wine tasting at historic Muratie takes place in ancient carved-out cement fermentation wine-making tanks. This is where South Africa’s first Pinot Noir was crafted, and where a perfect tasting of sweet-toned port-style wines can be experienced.
  Conclude with a leisurely drive back and a late afternoon drop-off at the Cape Town or Stellenbosch accommodation.

Proceed to the charming town of Franschhoek to discover the region’s beauty aboard a vintage-style railway tram, all while savoring a glass of world-famous wine from the nearby vineyards. Board the Franschhoek Wine Tram for a brief 2-5 minute journey through the vineyards to reach Rickety Bridge winery (or a similar venue) for a standard tasting of three of their wines.

On the return trip to Cape Town, visit one of South Africa’s oldest wine estates, Muratie Winery near Stellenbosch. Conclude the day with a sweet tasting experience of their port-style wines before enjoying a leisurely late afternoon drive back to Cape Town.
