- Chiesa degli Eremitani - World Heritage Site - The Church of the Eremitani was built as the Church of Saints Philip and James between 1260 and 1306 for the Eremitan friars of St Augustine. In the 14th century, it became one of Padua’s most important churches, adorned with works by the city’s greatest artists, such as Andrea Mantegna and Guariento.
- Pedrocchi Café - A renowned institution in Padua and a must-visit! A short visit is recommended for everyone, and if desired, one can enjoy their ‘Caffè Pedrocchi’: a delightful blend of espresso coffee, cocoa, milk, and mint syrup!
- Piazza dei Signori - One of the city’s many beautiful squares! Named after the “Palazzo della Signoria” or “Palace of the Carraresi,” who ruled Padua from 1318 to 1405.
- Cathedral Basilica of Santa Maria Assunta - Dedicated to Saint Mary of the Assumption, its current form was achieved thanks to architect Andrea da Valle, following a design by Michelangelo Buonarroti (the renowned Michelangelo!) dating back to 1551.
- Piazza delle Erbe - For centuries, this square served as the city’s ‘commercial centre’. Unlike the nearby Piazza dei Signori, which hosted more ‘institutional’ celebrations, Piazza delle Erbe was the site of popular festivities. The impressive Palazzo della Ragione overlooks the square.
- Palazzo Bo - The Studium Patavinum, or the University of Padua, now one of Italy’s most esteemed universities, was founded in 1222 to welcome students who left the Alma Mater in Bologna, deemed too controlled by the Church. This is located within Palazzo Bo!
- Basilica of St. Anthony - The “Basilica del Santo” is among the most visited sanctuaries globally. It is a treasure trove that also contains the remains of Saint Anthony of Padua, the quintessential Saint.
- Prato della Valle - A great pride for Padua! Covering an area of 88,620 m², it is the second-largest square in Europe, surpassed only by Moscow’s Red Square.
