- DMZ - Before entering the DMZ area for an ID check, there will be visits to three locations: the Bridge of Freedom, Mangbaedan Altar, and the steam locomotive destroyed during the Korean War in Imjingak Park. Imjingak was established in 1972 to support displaced North Koreans and is located at the end of National Road No. 1, accessible to civilians.
- Mangbaedan - Mangbaedan is an altar where North Korean refugees in the South perform ancestral rites on the two major national holidays for their parents and grandparents who remain in the North.
- The Third Tunnel - The third tunnel is one of the tunnels dug by North Korea extending southward under the DMZ. It is situated 12km from Munsan and 52km from Seoul, discovered on October 17, 1978. The tunnel is 2m wide, 2m high, and over 1,635m long, capable of accommodating approximately 30,000 soldiers per hour. It was found four kilometers south of Panmunjom in 1978.
Visitors will explore the tunnel on foot. After exiting the tunnel, they can watch a short video at The DMZ Theater, which illustrates the history of the Korean division and the natural ecosystem around the DMZ.
- Dora Observatory - Dora Observatory, the northernmost observatory on the west side of the Republic of Korea, opened in January 1987 atop Mt. Dora. On clear days, visitors can see the Gaeseong Industrial Complex, Mt. Songak in Gaeseong, statues of Kim Il Sung, Kijeong-dong in the North, the outskirts of Gaeseong, and Geummamgol (a cooperative farm) through the numerous telescopes on the rooftop.
- Imjingak Pyeonghoa-Nuri Park - This park was built to promote reunification and peace on the Korean peninsula. It aims to transform Imjingak, a symbol of division and tension, into a symbol of reconciliation, co-prosperity, peace, and unification. Various performances, exhibitions, film screenings, and festivals are held here throughout the year.
-
Gamaksan Chulleong Bridge - [Option 1]
This is the first stop on a short hiking course, requiring a 15-minute walk uphill. It is one of Korea’s longest suspension bridges, measuring 150 meters, and was a fierce battlefield during the Korean War. After a short hike to the top, visitors will reach a great viewpoint on Mt. Gamaksan. -
Majang Lake - [Option 2]
This location was the site of a fierce battle during the Korean War, where many Allied soldiers sacrificed their lives. In April 1951, a significant battle occurred to establish a defense line (delta defense line) to protect Seoul from the Communist Army. In May 1951, there was a battle to advance the Kansas Line.
