- Spiaggia Rosa - Capture photos in front of one of the world’s most enchanting and protected beaches: the renowned Pink Beach, a spectacular natural phenomenon. Spiaggia Rosa is part of the Maddalena Geomarine National Park, an area of immense natural interest. Due to special protection, walking on the beach or swimming along its shore is prohibited. Located just north of Spargi, the island is famous for its legendary pink beach. The coral-colored sand, vibrant sea colors, and the granite formations surrounding the cove create a unique global spectacle. A natural monument to be admired in reverent silence.
The pink beach of Budelli, immortalized by director Michelangelo Antonioni in a lengthy sequence in the film “Red Desert,” is situated southeast of Budelli Island in the La Maddalena Archipelago, named for its distinctive coral pink hue.
- Porto della Madonna - The Port of the Madonna, or Manto della Madonna, is in the northern part of the archipelago, nestled between the islands of Budelli, Razzoli, and Santa Maria. It forms a breathtaking expanse of crystal-clear water, a true natural swimming pool, dotted with small beaches featuring fine white sand facing a clear and transparent sea. Some coves allow swimming, while others are restricted to preserve this miraculous natural wonder unique in the world.
- Maddalena Islands - Razzoli and Santa Maria
These islands are nearly connected by the Asinelli Pass. Razzoli Island, the most northerly, impresses with its majestic cliffs and rock formations reminiscent of Moore’s sculptures. The lighthouse overlooking the Bocche di Bonifacio is both impressive and evocative.
In S. Maria, where some houses predate building restrictions, there remains an ancient and modest convent where Benedictine monks, fleeing Bonifacio in the Middle Ages, found refuge. The island boasts a beautiful beach, Cala S. Maria, one of the largest in the archipelago. In the tranquility of S. Maria, screenwriter Franco Solinas, one of the most esteemed authors of world cinema, penned many pages of significant Italian “committed” films. Gian Maria Volontè rests in the allure of these places, sailing alone among the islands and in the fierce winds of the Archipelago.
The Porto Madonna
This lagoon, with its emerald sea enclosed between the islands of Budelli, Razzoli, and S. Maria, is undoubtedly the park’s most captivating location. It is a popular destination for boaters exploring the northeastern Sardinian sea. In this extraordinary body of water, the Park has designated large areas for snorkeling and seawatching.
