The year is 1805. Gaspar Melchor de Jovellanos has escaped after seven years in Castle Bellver. However, true freedom awaits as he must return to retrieve a map that leads to the port and a ship off the island.
The journey involves navigating 14 stops from the castle through Bellver Forest, past a chapel, down the streets and market of Santa Catalina, and finally to the harbour. Along the way, Latin inscriptions must be decoded, Roman guardians counted, passwords cracked, and a sundial read to determine the escape date.
Download the Questo app, activate the quest with the booking code, and begin at Castle Bellver’s parking area. There is no guide or schedule, allowing exploration at your own pace.
Each stop unveils Palma’s rich history: Europe’s only circular castle, a forest with a witch’s legend, a 900 square meter hotel mural, and a Civil War memorial discussed under Spain’s memory law. Ideal in the morning, this adventure is perfect for couples or history enthusiasts visiting Mallorca. It takes approximately 3 hours to complete the 14 stops from the castle to the harbour.
