Knik Glacier Tours - This tour is a quintessential Alaskan experience, perfect for those eager to explore hiking and packrafting in Alaska. Hiking and paddling complement each other beautifully with the innovative use of pack rafts. The hiking trail follows the braided Knik River up to the glacier’s terminus and lake. During the hike, participants will enjoy unobstructed views of the mountains surrounding Knik Valley. It’s common to spot Moose, Black bears, and Dall Sheep. The braided river offers a natural path with minimal river crossings and very little bushwhacking. Braided rivers are often favored for hiking and trekking off-trail in Alaska due to their open vistas and relatively flat, easy terrain.
Pack rafts are remarkable boats, ideal for both floating on flat water and navigating white water. They are compact and easy to carry during the hiking portion of the trip, and participants will receive guidance on assembling and maneuvering their boats as they float around the lake. Safety is our top priority, and a safety briefing will be provided, including rules for safely observing the ice and paddling the river. The river is rated beginner, Class I/II. This is a classic Alaskan adventure!
