• Palmer Visitor Information Center - The group will gather at the Palmer Visitor Center to commence the journey with an exploration of the remnants left by glaciers thousands of years ago and their significant role in the region’s agricultural history. The discussion will include the Ahtna and Dena’ina peoples who have inhabited the area for millennia.
• Palmer - Following the visit to the center, the walking tour of downtown Palmer will begin, featuring stops at local monuments and historic buildings. At each location, participants will gain insights into the Matanuska Colony Project and its lasting impact on the quaint town of Palmer. The tour will conclude back at the Palmer Visitor Center, where suggestions for additional activities in the Palmer area will be provided.
