Amador Causeway (Calzada de Amador) - The Amador Causeway is a picturesque and popular destination in Panama City, extending over 6 kilometers and linking the mainland to four Pacific islands—Naos, Perico, Culebra, and Flamenco. Constructed with rocks excavated during the Panama Canal’s creation, the causeway provides breathtaking views of the city skyline, the canal’s entrance, and the Pacific Ocean. It is a favored location for walking, biking, dining, and enjoying the seaside. A notable photo spot along the Causeway is the colorful “Panama” sign.

Pedro Miguel Locks - The Pedro Miguel Locks are one of the three lock sets that form the Panama Canal. Situated on the Pacific side near Miraflores, these locks raise or lower ships by approximately 9 meters (30 feet) as they move between the Pacific Ocean and Gatun Lake. Although smaller and less frequented than Miraflores, Pedro Miguel provides an up-close view of the canal’s remarkable engineering and, with the right timing, the opportunity to witness large vessels navigating this crucial waterway.

Panama Canal Administration Building - The Panama Canal Administration Building, located in the Balboa area, is a historic and architectural icon built in 1914 during the American era of the Canal. Positioned on a hilltop, it offers expansive views of the Canal and the surrounding former U.S. Canal Zone. The Balboa district itself showcases American influence, with broad streets, colonial-style homes, and lush greenery—once home to Canal employees and still rich in history and character.
-
Casco Viejo - Plaza de la Independencia, situated in the heart of Panama City’s Casco Antiguo (Old Town), is one of the most historic and lively squares in the country. It was here in 1903 that Panama declared its independence from Colombia. Encircled by iconic colonial buildings like the Metropolitan Cathedral, the Interoceanic Canal Museum, and charming cafes, the plaza is a vibrant hub that embodies the essence of Panama’s cultural and historical heritage.
