Great Tour - A good way to see different elements of Cyprus pick up lots of interesting facts from a very informative and lovely guide and a very safe and competent driver. We went at end of Feb and things weren’t too busy to take a look around at the various stops. May not be suited to families with very young children who find coach rides too long to sit down for any length of time.

From Paphos for the day... - Enjoyed experiencing how big Cyprus is though a bit fed up with being on the coach by the end of the day. Highlight was Larnaca, the church of St Lazarus was fabulous. Nicosia left us cold - all we saw was a shopping area. The guide was not the best we've ever had, a bit unfocussed. She obviously had a lot of knowledge but was often sidetracked to personal stories - her grandfather, her other job, her role with a local charity etc etc

Underwhelming Nicosia and no stop at the Mosque... - This was the second tour I booked after the positive experience of the 100% Cyprus tour, and whilst I am grateful to have visited more of Cyprus, I was left a little disheartened. This was mainly because we did not visit the Hala Sultan Tekke Mosque as per the itinerary, which was a highlighted stop and one that was very important to me. Instead, we stopped to the side of the lake, and as another guest has written, had no chance of seeing the Mosque as we were so far away! When I questioned this with the tour guide, she said that this was no longer a stop on the trip and suggested that the details provided with my online booking were incorrect. I checked with other passengers (who did not book via Trip Advisor), and they, too, had details that suggested there should be a stop. All in all, I was grateful for the areas we did visit. Nicosia was a little underwhelming, to say the least (unless you like shopping), but I was happy as I was able to cross the 'green line'/border into the Turkish side. Whilst she was lovely, I found our tour guide could've made simple changes to make the group feel more comfortable and looked after. Perhaps this is because we were lucky to have Anna on the previous trip! Things such as keeping the group updated on the various pick up points and explaining that she will update us all once everyone had been picked up, would've been nice (my hotel was the very first pick up, but the guide was absent until the next stop) As well as making us aware she had to answer a personal call whilst in the middle of talking to the group over the microphone, rather than just going silent mid sentence. I also felt that both she and the driver came alive on the journey home. It is such a shame they did not have this energy at the start! As I say, these are just simple changes that would not deflect from the overall trip (and would not be expected had we not had the wonderful Anna), but could help to improve the trip for others.

Packed itinerary, poor service - I should start off by saying that the tour itself packs in a LOT, which is great. However, don’t expect a “guided tour” - the guide was upfront on the coach that this would be a self-guided tour, after info was given to us on the bus. If you’re looking for a tour that drives you between destinations, then this is the tour for you. However, it wasn’t quite what I expected. In the morning, the coach was late picking us up and due to a fault with the microphone, we had to make an unscheduled stop at the Rock of Aphrodite - which is on almost every tour itinerary, so nobody was thrilled about. By the time we got going, we had lost a significant amount of time. Viola, our guide didn’t have the best English (by her own admission, she had only been learning for the last 2 years), so despite plenty of good will, it became a little disappointing that we couldn’t follow a lot of what was being said whilst on the bus re the history of Cyprus. With that said, she did try hard to make sure we were all having a good time and she was enthusiastic throughout. The disappointment really set in when we got to the Salt Lake. Viola tried to manage expectations that we might not see flamingos, but to the disappointment of many of us on the coach, we didn’t even get to see a glimpse of the mosque. I suspect due to loss of time earlier in the day, we stopped “only to take photos” on the opposite side of the salt lake, meaning we couldn’t see the mosque at all. My biggest gripe of the day was our driver, Nikolas, who almost crashed the bus on 2-3 occasions and was honestly quite rude and dismissive. For instance, I tried to ask him for help while he was outside the bus smoking a cigarette, but he brushed me away and shouted “no english”. I used Google Translate to show him in Greek and he waved me away. He didn’t think to once mention that Viola was on the bus and able to answer my question. I tried to be positive all day, but the tour felt overpriced for the level of professionalism it offered - so when I got off the bus (after it had missed my hotel drop off, and I had to walk home) and didn’t tip, I was met with an icy reception from Viola and Nikolas. The day in general felt very rushed - I’m sure in part due to the unavoidable technical issues with the bus, and in part due to the packed itinerary. If you’re looking for a tour that ticks off destinations for quick photo stops, this is great. However, not ideal if you want to have more than a few quick pics in any one destination.
