The journey begins with an introduction to the 19th-century Parisian salons, which played a crucial role in defining the “quality” of an artist’s work. With a solid understanding of what the elite sought in art, the group will then learn about one of the museum’s pioneering rebels, Manet. Following this, the guide will lead the group upstairs to delve into the impressionist collection, featuring masterpieces by Monet, Renoir, Degas, Valadon, and Lautrec. Discover how these artists inspired one another while remaining outsiders and nonconformists in the elite art world of their time. Finally, the group will explore the poignant life of Van Gogh through an examination of his most renowned paintings. The tour concludes in the post-impressionism wing, providing an opportunity to further explore the museum independently or to exit at one’s leisure.
