Best way to experience Normandy by Private Tour - Tour guide, Colin, provided a wealth of historical information about Dday and WW2 in the European theater. We had an uncle who participated in the Dday paratrooper operations and died shortly after. Colin helped us to find the location of the Airborne Division's landing and temporary American Cemetery near St Mere Eglise. Being on the beaches really helped to make us appreciate how enormous the operation was , and how spread out the beaches were. The area is very pretty and peaceful, and hasn't really changed since WW2. Also, you won't find a better guide.

The most informative and interesting DD tour we could have ever imagined. - We spent 12 hours with Gilles our guide who picked us up right at our hotel. We drove the 3+ hours to Omaha beach stopping along the way for coffee and toilet breaks. Gilles had a map and used that to give us the history of the area before we arrived. We did the most interesting tour of Omaha beach, The American Cemetery, a local apple farm to sample the wines, had lunch and Gilles described other places as we were driving around the area. His knowledge about the war, France and World War 1 +2 was so impressive. We learned more on that tour about WW2 than sitting in a classroom for 5 years. We are SO GLAD we spent the extra money to take this private tour with Gilles. It was worth every cent. We could never have leaned so much if we were on a large tour tour.Gilles was flexible about how long we wanted to stop for and where we wanted to spend the most time. Our walk around the American Cemetery was really moving, Seeing all the crosses really was overwhelming. So many young men sacrificed so much. May we never have another WW again. MERCI Gilles!!

Fantastic day trip to Normandy - Wonderful trip to Normandy from Paris. Our guide, Gilles, was very knowledgeable of not only French history and Normandy, but was able to tie together US history as well. He customized the trip to our needs and would recommend 10/10

Very memorable and something we had wanted to do for years. - Our guide was very knowledgeable and had maps to show the whole area. He answered all our questions and took us to every place we wanted to see. Walked me to a New Hampshire grave at the cemetery so I could pay my respects to a person who served from my state. We stayed for TAPS and the flag ceremony. Very moving. Also pointed out places of interest on the 3 1/2 hour drive. Our lunch was at a country farm that had been part of the United States presence. It was all great, even the weather. We would definitely ask for Gilles again.

Amazing experience - private tour of D day beaches - We took a private tour of the D-Day beaches in Normandy. Our tour guide was Agnes. She was just amazing. She spoke English beautifully. She was extremely informative and answered all of our questions on the drive to Normandy and back to our hotel. I definitely recommend her. What a memorable experience for myself and my family!

Misleading Description and Poor Experience - This could and should have been a lot better. The sites we visited were wonderful to see but our "guide" chose not to include at least two stops which were listed in the description (Sainte-Mere-Eglise and a visit to Utah Beach). Moreover, the tour description on Viator states, "This private tour is completely tailored to your group's preferences." Nothing could be further from the truth. When asked to make a brief stop at Berkhamsted Castle in Caen (which he said we would pass) our guide refused and indicated there was not time. This was surprising to learn particularly given the fact that the total time the tour lasted was significantly less than the 12 to 14 hours listed in the description. In addition, the tour operator did not respond to two messages I sent via the Viator app. I received zero communication from anyone associated with this experience until our guide showed up late to pick us up. The worst part of the experience, however, was our babblative guide inviting himself to join us for lunch and then having us pay for him. I have been on numerous tour through Viator and never have I experienced something like that. This could have been a fantastic experience and should have been for the high cost of the tour. A partial refund should be granted. Very disappointing.
