The best way to see Giverny - The only way to visit Giverny reasonably is by tour. A group was supposed to be seven, but was closer to 25, so perhaps they triple booked that tour. Our guide was knowledgeable and delightful. Please be aware you will be traveling on a large bus with people who are not doing a guided tour, but the bus is roomy and modern. Even with triple booking, our guide was knowledgeable and very smart about getting us into the Monet house ahead of the cruise ships that were about to disembark huge numbers of passengers. He spent a lot of time talking to us about Monet‘s history and art as well as giving us a very Smart tour around the gardens. Our visit was just about the right length, including time for leisurely stroll through the gardens, and a visit to the gift shop before returning.

Colorful Giverny - Our guide was knowledgeable and organized Unfortunately his speaker system did not work in the garden but his voice carried and he shared pictures of paintings of the views we saw. Well worth the trip, we did a half day in the after and it was lovely.

Beautiful home and gardens! - I had a great time visiting Giverny. The process of meeting the bus operators and tour guide was easy. The ride to Giverny from Paris was short and comfortable. My guide (forget her name) gave us a background of Monet’s life on the bus and continued the talk when we got to the garden. At the group tours entrance, we waited on line to get the contents of our bags checked and show our tickets. A smaller group led by a different tour operator rudely tried to pass us and cut in front of us. My guide stopped them from proceeding and reprimanded their guide. I was happy that she did that, because it was not right that they felt entitled to not need to wait on the line. Once we got through security, my guide decided to rearrange the order of our tour. Instead of going to see the Japanese garden first, we went to Monet’s house first. This was due to the crowds at the pond, and could delay us from getting to the house on time. I liked that she did that and was mindful about our time. The weather was beautiful and I had a great time. The views were spectacular. Highly recommend this tour.

A lift to Giverny - The advantage of this tour is the organized travel between Paris and Giverny, doable but cumbersome on public transport. The bus ride is about 90 miles mostly on nondescript highway . Lines were huge for the house on a sunny Saturday by late morning, but apparently it constantly rains there so everyone taking advantage of the weather. Gardens also were a little crowded, on a weekend. Too many people for one guide to keep track of, she seemed surprised and grateful that the bus head count at the end had everyone on board. The bus was huge and had a bathroom, which the driver kept LOCKED.

My Giverny experience - The tour guide was great. Very friendly and knowledgeable and he was focused on making sure we had the best experience. The bus was very comfortable too. It was just too rushed and not enough time. A couple of hrs more would be perfect. It would have been nice to be able to walk next door and have lunch and have a more leisurely walk around. For $200 more time would be appropriate.

A very big group - Double decker full bus, definitely not a small group as advertised. Time on site is only one hour. Very limited time.

Crowded and Rushed - Due to large crowds at the Gardens we were rushed around to try to avoid the long lines. Instead of dropping us off at the venue first, the bus parked about a 1/4 mile away and we, mostly all senior citizens, walked to the entrance. Most problematic was the toilet on the bus did not work. Guide did as best as he could under the circumstances. The Gardens were beautiful.

Not great - Couldn’t understand the tour guide. Bus broke down on the way back. Had to order a G7 to get back on time. Not worth the money. Just go on your own.
