The Musée d’Orsay houses the largest collection of Impressionist art in the world. Approximately one-third of all Impressionist paintings displayed in museums globally can be found in this exquisite former railway station, constructed for the 1900 Universal Exhibition and converted into a museum in 1986. During our tour, you’ll discover the fascinating history of this locale, which has served as a movie set, a garage for Nazi Germans, and ultimately as Paris’s premier museum for 19th-century art. We’ll explore and discuss significant artworks, like the model of the Statue of Liberty, sculptures by Auguste Rodin, Jean-Baptiste Carpeaux, Aristide Maillol, and not surprisingly, paintings by impressionists like Manet, Monet, Degas, Rodin, Latour, Cezanne, Sisley, Van Gogh, and Gauguin. We’ll wrap up our tour with the notable arts and crafts, or Art Floral, a revolutionary style of furniture that marries art with craftsmanship.
