Tachogang Lhakhang Bridge - The journey starts with a pickup from the traveler’s hotel in Kathmandu, typically in the morning after breakfast. Travelers are then taken to Tribhuvan International Airport. Following check-ins, they will embark on a scenic one-hour flight to Paro, Bhutan. Upon arrival, they will be warmly welcomed by our airport representative and taken on a short drive to Tachogang Lhakhang Bridge.
The Tachogang Lhakhang Bridge, also known as the Iron Chain Bridge, is a historic suspension bridge in Paro, Bhutan, leading to the Tachogang Lhakhang Temple across the Paro Chhu River.
Buddha Dordenma - After a brief visit to the historic bridge, travelers proceed to the renowned Buddha Dordenma statue. This magnificent Shakyamuni Buddha statue, located in the mountains of Bhutan, commemorates the 60th birthday of the fourth king, Jigme Singye Wangchuck. The statue contains over one hundred thousand smaller Buddha statues, all made of bronze and gilded in gold, just like the Great Buddha Dordenma itself.
Tashichho Dzong - The journey continues to Tashichho Dzong, a Buddhist monastery and fortress on the northern edge of Thimphu, Bhutan, on the western bank of the Wang Chu. Traditionally, it has been the seat of the Druk Desi, the head of Bhutan’s civil government, an office combined with the kingship since the monarchy’s establishment in 1907, and the summer capital of the country. After the tour, travelers will be escorted to their hotel in Thimphu.
Thimphu-Punakha Roundtrip
Dochula Pass - After a delightful breakfast at the hotel, travelers head to Dochula Pass to begin their second day in Bhutan. Dochula is a high pass across the snow-covered Himalayas on the road from Thimphu to Punakha, where 108 memorial chortens, known as “Druk Wangyal Chortens,” were built by Ashi Dorji Wangmo Wangchuk, the eldest Queen Mother.
Chimi Lhakhang Temple - Following a brief tour at Dochula Pass and a short scenic drive, travelers arrive at Chimi Lhakhang Temple. This Buddhist monastery in Punakha District, Bhutan, is located near Lobesa on a round hillock. It was founded and built in 1499 by the Drukpa Kagyu lama Ngawang Chogyal, the 14th abbot of Ralung Monastery.
Punakha Dzong - The day’s final destination is Punakha Dzong, the administrative center of Punakha District in Bhutan. Constructed by Ngawang Namgyal, 1st Zhabdrung Rinpoche, in 1637–38, it is the second oldest and second-largest dzong in Bhutan and one of its most majestic structures.
After the tour, travelers will enjoy a scenic two-hour drive back to their hotel in Thimphu.
Drive back to Paro and visit Paro Taktsang
Paro Taktsang - Day three begins with a short scenic drive (one hour) from Thimphu to Paro. Upon arrival at the base camp of Paro Taktsang, travelers can choose to hike (2-3 hours) or take an optional horse ride to the Tiger’s Nest. After a brief tour of the monastery, they can hike back down to the base camp.
Kyichu Lhakhang - After the invigorating hike to and from Paro Taktsang, travelers will be driven to Kyichu Lhakhang. This significant Himalayan Buddhist temple is located in Lango Gewog of Paro Dzongkhag, Bhutan. The Jowo Temple of Kyichu, one of Bhutan’s oldest temples, was originally built in the 7th century by Tibetan Emperor Songtsen Gampo, the 32nd King of the Yarlung dynasty, who ruled Tibet for much of the first millennium.
In the evening, travelers will visit a farmhouse in Paro to experience Bhutanese lifestyle with an organic Bhutanese Farewell Dinner before their overnight stay.
Fly back to Kathmandu
Kathmandu - The fourth day of the tour begins with a final breakfast in the Land of Happiness. Travelers will then be escorted back to Paro International Airport for their departure to Kathmandu, Nepal.
