Huaraz (3100 m) – Transfer via Quebrada Llanganuco – Trek to Chopicalqui Base Camp (4350 m) and Moraine Camp (4900 m)
Chopicalqui - Following breakfast, the mountaineering gear is prepared. The journey begins from Huaraz (3100 m) with a transfer through Quebrada Llanganuco, leading to a trek to Chopicalqui Base Camp (4350 m). The ascent continues to Chopicalqui Moraine Camp (4900 m) using private transport, which takes approximately 3-3.5 hours, followed by a 5-hour trek to Moraine Camp. Overnight camping is arranged.
Moraine Camp - Ascend to Chopicalqui High Camp (5350 m)
Chopicalqui - The climb starts over the rocky moraine to reach the glacier. The route continues over various glacier slopes, navigating several crevasses to set up camp on the glacier at High Camp. This takes about 5-6 hours. Overnight camping is planned.
High Camp - Ascend to Chopicalqui Summit (6345 m) - Base Camp (4350m)
Chopicalqui - Chopicalqui presents a challenging climb, marking the peak of the expedition. The ascent to the summit involves crossing seracs and crevasses, along with climbing technical walls. The final section includes an 8-10 meter climb at a 75º -80º slope. The descent leads back to High Camp or Moraine Camp, continuing to Base Camp. The day’s activities span 10-13 hours. Overnight camping is scheduled.
Base Camp Chopicalqui - Transfer via Quebrada Llanganuco - Huaraz
Huaraz - An early departure is planned from Moraine Camp or Base Camp to the highway, where a private bus awaits. This marks the farewell to the Llanganuco Valley. Accommodation is arranged at a hotel in Huaraz. Overnight stay at the hotel.

About Chopicalqui Peak: Chopicalqui is the third peak of the Huascarán Massif, also located in the Cordillera Blanca, between the two peaks of Huascarán and Contrahierbas. With an elevation of 6,345 meters, it is the fifth highest mountain in the department (administrative region) of Ancash, and the fourth highest in the Cordillera Blanca. It is a demanding mountain with some technical climbing and this requires previous climbing experience.
