- Pocono Mountains Region - Volubilis is a partially excavated Roman city in Morocco, situated near Meknes between Fez and Rabat. Established in a fertile agricultural area, it originated in the 3rd century BC as a Phoenician (and later Carthaginian) colony. The city flourished under Roman rule from the 1st century AD, expanding to cover about 100 acres with a 1.6-mile circuit of walls. In the 2nd century, it gained several significant public buildings, including a basilica, a temple, and a triumphal arch. Its wealth, largely from olive cultivation, led to the creation of many elegant townhouses with extensive mosaic floors.
The city was overtaken by local tribes around 285 and was never reclaimed by Rome due to its remote location and lack of defensibility on the southwestern frontier of the Roman Empire. It remained inhabited for at least 700 years.

THE CITY OF MOULAY DRISS ZERHOUN
Moulay Driss Zerhoun is the first Muslim city in North Africa, named after its founder Moulay Driss. It is situated 550 meters above sea level, beneath the Djebel Zerhoun, and spans two hills, surrounded by lush plains abundant with olive trees. Until 1917, the city was closed to non-Muslims, and today it maintains its status as a holy city.
The city is perched on a hill, featuring a maze of stairways! Certain spots, known as “terraces,” provide a panoramic view of the city, the mausoleum, and the intricate network of alleys and small houses that encircle it.
