Fishing is prohibited, and the lake is surrounded by legends and folklore. One tale suggests the small island at its center was used by the king’s harem for bathing and was connected to the palace by a secret tunnel.

Ramboda Waterfall - As rivers flow over uneven terrain or down mountains, they often split into tributaries or form waterfalls. Occasionally, two tributaries of the same river create twin waterfalls close to each other, forming a Y shape when they merge. This unique sight can be seen at Ramboda Pass in the Pussellawa area of Nuwara Eliya. Ramboda Falls, also known as Ramboda Ella or Puna Ella, is formed by Puna Oya, a tributary of Kothmale Oya, and pairs with Dunsinane Falls, created by Pundalu Oya, another tributary of Kothmale River.

Gregory Lake - Created in 1873 by British Governor Sir William Gregory, Gregory Lake was initially intended for electricity generation. However, it became a popular leisure and recreation spot. At its peak, Gregory Lake was a prominent attraction, offering relaxation for many visitors.

Sita Temple - The Sita Amman Temple, dedicated to Sita, the wife of Lord Rama, is located in the hills of Nuwara Eliya. It is the only temple of its kind in the world and is revered by Hindus. Situated five kilometers from Nuwara Eliya on the road to Kandy, it is believed to be the site where King Ravana held Sita captive. The temple features footprints by the river, thought to resemble those of Hanuman.

Ambewela Farms - Ambewela is a small town or hill station in the Nuwara Eliya District of Sri Lanka. The area is home to two animal husbandries, Ambewela Farm and New Zealand Farm, which house Ayrshire cattle and Friesian cows, respectively.

Shri Bhakta Hanuman Temple - Built by the Chinmaya Mission of Sri Lanka, the Shri Bhakta Hanuman Temple is located in Ramboda on the Kandy-Nuwara Eliya Road, approximately 30 kilometers north of Nuwara Eliya on the A-5 route, facing the Kotmale Reservoir. The Chinmaya Mission is a Hindu spiritual organization dedicated to spreading Vedanta, the science of the self, as explained in the Vedas, Upanishads, and other significant Hindu scriptures, including the Bhagavad Gita.

Madu Ganga Biodiversity Area - The Madu Ganga is a minor river originating near Uragasmanhandiya in the Galle District of Sri Lanka. It widens into the Madu Ganga Lake at Balapitiya and flows for 4.4 km before reaching the Indian Ocean.

Galle Fort Lighthouse - Situated within the historic Galle Fort, the Galle Lighthouse stands seven meters above the road on the ramparts. As Sri Lanka’s oldest light station, dating back to 1848, the original lighthouse was destroyed by fire in 1934 and rebuilt to its current height of 26 meters. Located within the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Galle Fort, it is a popular tourist attraction and the country’s most visited lighthouse.

Galle Fort - Also known as the Dutch Fort, Galle Fort was initially constructed by the Portuguese on Sri Lanka’s southwestern coast. Built in the late 16th century, the fortifications were basic. UNESCO recognized the site as a World Heritage Site for its unique blend of European architecture and South Asian traditions from the 16th to 19th centuries, meeting the criteria for such recognition.
