Laguna 69 - Begin your day with an early breakfast at your hotel in Huaraz. Around 5:30 am, a tour bus will pick you up and take you to the starting point of the hike at Cebollapampa, which is approximately a three-hour drive. The hike to Lake 69 features a moderate incline and takes about four hours. Upon arrival, you’ll have ample time to explore the stunning scenery and capture unforgettable photos. Stroll around the lake to fully appreciate its beauty. After spending a couple of hours at the lake, you’ll return along the same trail to Cebollapampa, where the campsite is set up at the Llanganuco lakes, situated at 4200 meters above sea level.
Llanganuco Lakes & Paron Lake
Laguna Paron - Enjoy breakfast at the Lake Llanganuco camp around 6 am, then depart at 8 am in a private minivan heading west through the Llanganuco Valley. As you pass through charming villages, you’ll have the opportunity to admire the majestic white mountains of Huandoy, Huascaran, Hualcan, Copa, and others. A photo stop is possible for capturing these views. Continue to the historic province of Yungay, the ancient city buried at 2500 meters above sea level, where a piece of Huascaran’s north peak caused a massive avalanche that destroyed the province in just six seconds. A guided tour lasting about 45 minutes will take you through this area. Just 1 km north is the new Yungay, after which you’ll proceed to the small city of Caraz. From there, begin the unpaved trail along the Paron River, lined with eucalyptus trees and traditional peasant houses. Shortly, you’ll ascend a beautiful valley filled with polylepis trees, known as quenuales, before reaching Paron Lake. Enjoy a walk around the lake and a short hike to its top, taking time for photos. At the appropriate time, return to Caraz via the same route for lunch at a typical restaurant around 3 pm. After lunch, drive directly back to Huaraz, arriving around 6 pm.
