Sacred Valley - The jungle tour kicks off with a hotel pick-up at 6:30 am. The journey begins with a drive from Cusco to the Sacred Valley of the Incas, where a delightful breakfast awaits.
Abra Malaga - The adventure continues to the Abra Malaga pass (4350 m/14271 ft.), the trek’s highest point, offering breathtaking views. Here, the mountain biking adventure begins. Before setting off, the tour guide will provide comprehensive details about the route and bikes, and all necessary riding gear will be supplied. The exhilarating bike descent covers 55km/34.18 mi.
Feel the wind as the scenery transitions from misty mountains to the lush jungle’s edge. Experience the warming climate as you descend. There will be stops to take in the views, concluding the ride in Huamanmarca, a quaint village where snacks and drinks can be purchased.
Santa Maria - From Huamanmarca, transportation will take you to Santa Maria town at 1200 m/3937 ft., where lunch will be served, followed by check-in at the lodge for an overnight stay.
In the afternoon, there’s an option for River Rafting on the Vilcanota River, featuring category III and III+ rapids. Safety is ensured with helmets, windbreaks, and life jackets provided. Participants must be able to swim, as required by Peruvian law. In the evening, enjoy dinner and a comfortable overnight stay.
Please note, this thrilling activity is available from April to December, as the river levels rise during the wet season.
Santa Maria – Santa Teresa: Trekking and Cocalmayo Hot Springs
Santa Maria - After a hearty breakfast, a 45-minute walk leads to an uphill trek. Along this route, there are several stops to explore the area’s flora and fauna, including a visit to a local house to learn about their lifestyle and coffee production.
The journey continues along a section of the original Inca trail, which once connected Machupicchu to the last Inca refuge, Vilcabamba. The tour guide will share insights into the history and communication systems of the Inca trails, offering stunning views of the Huancarcasa canyon.
Banos Termales de Cocalmayo - The descent to the Quellomayo River follows, where a delicious lunch is served at a local house. Post-lunch, a 3-hour walk ensues, including a thrilling yet safe car and pulley crossing, leading to the Cocalmayo hot springs for relaxation. Transportation to Santa Teresa village follows, where a delightful dinner and overnight stay await.
Santa Teresa – Aguas Calientes: Zipline and Trekking
Central Hidroelectrica Machu Picchu - The day begins at 7:00 am, with breakfast at 8:00 am. The morning features a 3-hour ZIP LINE activity (those not participating have free time). Around midday, a car ride from Santa Teresa to Hidroelectrica marks the start of the hike. Lunch is provided before the hike, which takes approximately 3 hours along a mostly flat path next to the train track, leading to Aguas Calientes.
Aguas Calientes - Machupicchu - Cusco
Santuario Historico de Machu Picchu - The highlight of the tour is the visit to Machupicchu, one of the New 7 Wonders of the World. The day begins with an optional 1-hour hike.
The entrance to Machupicchu opens at 6:00 am, and the aim is to be among the first groups inside. The tour guide will coordinate the best way to reach Machupicchu, either by hiking or bus. Once there, enjoy a 2-hour guided tour of significant sites, including temples, terraces, palaces, the Intihuatana, the industrial sector, and the farming center.
There will be approximately 5 hours to explore before returning to Aguas Calientes. Lunch is at your discretion, as it is not included on the last day. The train back to Cusco departs between 1:37 pm and 6:20 pm, subject to availability. Upon arrival in Ollantaytambo, transportation will be ready to take you back to your accommodation in Cusco.
