• Via Ulisse Rocchi, 39 - The Etruscan Arch, more accurately known as the Monumental Etruscan Gate, likely dates back to the 3rd century BC. It is situated on the northern side of Perugia’s ancient city walls, which stretch for 3 kilometers. The two primary gates were the Etruscan Arch, also called the Arch of Augustus, to the north, and Porta Marzia to the south, which will be discussed later.
• Acquedotto Medievale - Construction of the aqueduct, spanning approximately 4 km, commenced in 1254 with the purpose of channeling water from Monte Pacciano to the Fontana Maggiore, which will be elaborated on later.
• Pozzo Etrusco - The Etruscan Well, located in Perugia’s historic center beneath Palazzo Sorbello, was constructed in the latter half of the 16th century and was acquired by the Bourbon di Sorbello family in 1780. The palace remains in the possession of their descendants today.
• Piazza IV Novembre - Piazza IV Novembre is the true heart of the city: a symbolic and cultural hub that has been central to political and religious life for centuries. In 1423, a year before his death, Braccio commissioned the Bolognese architect Fioravante to design a loggia overlooking Piazza IV Novembre, including a staircase leading to his grand residence.
• Corso Vannucci - Corso Vannucci is the main avenue of Perugia and embodies the historical and cultural essence of the city. Named after the renowned Renaissance painter Pietro Vannucci, known as Perugino, the avenue traverses the historic center, linking Piazza Italia to Piazza IV Novembre.
• Rocca Paolina - Rocca Paolina is a historic 16th-century papal fortress. Constructed by order of Pope Paul III Farnese between 1540 and 1543, Rocca Paolina symbolized papal authority over Perugia, solidified after the successful “Salt War” against the Perugians. Designed by military architect Antonio da Sangallo the Younger, the fortress’s construction required the demolition of about a quarter of the city. The structure was divided into two complexes: a larger fortress on the Landone hill and a smaller one, called “Tenaglia”, situated lower and connected to the first by three fortified passages.
