- Peshawar Gandhara Museum - The tour begins in the capital city, Islamabad. Guests will meet their tour guide at the hotel lobby early in the morning at 7 am to start the journey to explore this historic city. The first attraction is the Peshawar Museum, an artistic marvel built in 1906-07 in memory of Queen Victoria. Established in November 1907, the museum houses Gandharan sculptures excavated from major Gandharan sites like Shah-Ji-Ki-Dheri Peshawar and Sahri Bahlol. The two-story building, a blend of British and Mughal architecture, originally featured a main hall and two side aisles on both floors, topped with four elegant cupolas and small pinnacles at each corner. Visitors can explore the museum and learn about its history and the artifacts found in the area.
- Mahabat Khan Mosque - Following the museum, the next attraction is “The Mahabat Khan Mosque,” sometimes spelled Mohabbat Khan Mosque, a 17th-century Mughal-era mosque in Peshawar, Pakistan. Built in 1630, it was named after the Mughal governor of Peshawar, Nawab Mohabat Khan Kamboh, father of Nawab Khairandesh Khan Kamboh. The mosque’s white marble façade is considered one of Peshawar’s most iconic sights. During Sikh times, the minarets of the Mohabbat Khan Mosque were often used for hanging prisoners, with five people per day hanged from the minarets as a substitute for the gallows.
- Qissa Khawani Bazaar - The next stop is Kissa Khwani Bazaar, renowned for its Chai and Qehwa houses, and its connection to several famous Indian movie actors who have origins and family ties in the region. Actor Raj Kapoor and his uncle, actor Trilok Kapoor, were also born in the area. Actor Shah Rukh Khan’s family still resides in the area.
