Phakding - Begin the day with an early morning transfer to the domestic terminal of Kathmandu airport for a flight to Lukla (2810m/9216ft). The flight takes approximately 45 minutes. Enjoy a cup of tea or coffee in Lukla and take a one-hour rest at a mountain lodge. The trek commences from Lukla, following a trail through Sherpa villages and yak pastures. Lunch is served in Thado Koshi (2591m/8498ft), offering a stunning view of Kum Kangaru (6370m/20893ft). Along the way, admire the painted Mani wall in Ghat (Chhuthawa) village. Arrive in Phakding by late afternoon. Overnight at a mountain lodge.
Phakding to Namche Bazaar (3446m/11302ft)
Namche Bazaar - The trek begins after breakfast at the mountain lodge. Cross the Dudh Koshi River, originating from the Khumbu glacier. Enter Sagarmatha National Park at Monjo village. Lunch is at Jorsale (2740m/8987ft). The trail continues along the Dudh Koshi River, crossing another suspension bridge at Larja Dobhan (2830m/9282ft). The path ascends a steep staircase through pine forests. After a half-hour steep climb, catch a glimpse of Mt. Everest (8848m/29029ft). The trail ascends to Namche Bazaar through alpine forests. Be delighted to reach Namche Bazaar, the gateway to Everest Base Camp trekking. Enjoy a two-night stay here. Overnight at a mountain lodge.
Rest in Namche Bazaar/Excursion to Namche Bazaar and Syangboche (3880m/12726ft). Return to Namche Bazaar.
Syangboche - A rest day in Namche Bazaar is essential for acclimatization. Explore Namche Bazaar, which offers various amenities such as banks, internet, bakeries, and shopping. After breakfast, take a one and a half hour steep walk to Syangboche (3880m/12726ft). From Syangboche, enjoy views of Mt. Everest (8848m/29029ft), Lhotse (8516m/27932ft), Ama Dablam (6814m/22350ft), Thamserku (6618m/21707ft), and more. Have tea and coffee at the Everest View Hotel. The trail descends for 30 minutes to Khumjung village (3780m/12398ft), home to the Sherpas, renowned climbers. In Khumjung, visit the Khumjung Hillary School and Khumjung Gompa. After lunch, return to Namche Bazaar. Overnight at a mountain lodge.
Namche Bazaar to Phortse Village (3643m/11949ft)
Phortse Village to Dole (4200m)
Dole to Machhermo (4470m/14661ft)
Machhermo - Today offers an easier trek with better views than previous days. From Dole, the trail descends to a stream, then crosses a wooden bridge. Pass a few teahouses, and the trail ascends for an hour to the top of a hill. Take time here for photos. Reach Luza (4390m/14399ft) after a 1 hour 50 minute walk from Dole. Rest and enjoy tea here. From Luza, the trail ascends along the valley’s edge, crossing more high pastureland and chortens with prayer flags. Some say a yeti killed a Sherpa woman and yak here. From this hill, enjoy views of the eastern Gokyo Valley, Mt. Taboche, and Mt. Cholatse. Then descend to Machhermo Valley. Overnight at a mountain lodge.
Machhermo to Gokyo (4800 m/15,744 ft): 5 - 6 hours
Gokyo Valley: Climb Gokyo Ri (5357 m/17,570 ft) and trek to fifth lakes: 5 - 6 hours
Gokyo to Dole: 3 - 4 hours
Dole to Namche Bazaar: 4 - 5 hours
Namche Bazaar - Descend on a steep trail to Phortse Thanga, admiring rhododendrons, wildflowers, and waterfalls. Encounter mountain goats, musk deer, and birds. From Mong, enjoy a view of Khumbila Peak. On the way to Namche, relish views of Taboche, Ama Dablam, Thamserku, and Kangtega mountains. After some walking, reach a junction where the trail from Sanasa meets the current trail. Walk along a forested slope past Kyangjuma, winding through several curves. Upon reaching the Namche army camp hill, look back to see Lhotse, the tip of Everest, and Tengboche one last time. About a kilometer from here is Namche Bazaar. Overnight in Namche Bazaar.
Namche Bazaar to Lukla: 6 - 8 hours
Lukla - Descend on a rocky trail, crossing several suspension bridges before walking on a leveled path. The air becomes warmer as the trail leads back to Lukla. The mountain trek concludes upon reaching Lukla. Spend time reflecting on the mountain journey. Overnight in Lukla.
Fly to Kathmandu
Kathmandu - Fly back to Kathmandu on the earliest available flight. After arriving in Kathmandu, enjoy the rest of the day at leisure. In the evening, celebrate with a farewell dinner alongside the trek leader and some staff from Info Trekking Nepal, marking the end of the Nepal adventure. Overnight in Kathmandu.
