Following this, visit the 12th-century Macharias Monastery, nestled on a secluded hillside. Its richly adorned interior is home to a revered icon of the Virgin Mary.
Next, visit the delightful village of Lefkara, renowned for its exquisite handmade lace and embroidery. “Women, both young and old, can be seen sitting outside their homes and shops creating lace,” says Stavroula. “For centuries, the men from the village have traveled across Europe to sell it, and even Leonardo da Vinci purchased some.” The tour concludes on a high note in Skarinou village, where participants can try their hand at making halloumi and bread before enjoying a ‘KM0’ lunch featuring locally sourced ingredients at a family-run restaurant.
