It’s well-known that George Washington didn’t actually chop down a cherry tree, so why does this tale persist?
Americans enjoy sharing stories about the Founding Fathers that instill pride in being part of their legacy. However, beneath these grand tales of brilliance and success, we discover flawed individuals who were simply human. They were people who could be kind, cruel, humorous, and very rarely chopping down trees.
This tour not only showcases America’s Most Historic Square Mile (though it does that too), but it also explores who the Founding Fathers truly were, who they were not, and who we wish they had been.
No axe-wielding necessary.
The tour will feature the exteriors of the Liberty Bell and Independence Hall, the President’s House, Benjamin Franklin’s Grave, Franklin Court, Elfreth’s Alley, Betsy Ross’ House, and more.
- Infants must be carried by a parent or guardian
- Not recommended for travelers who cannot travel two miles and lack assistance or a mobility aid
