Blood Compact Monument - This site commemorates a significant event in Philippine history between Miguel Lopez de Legazpi of Spain and Rajah Sikatuna of Bohol. The Sikatuna-Legazpi blood compact is recognized as the First Treaty of Friendship between two distinct races, religions, cultures, and civilizations. It was a treaty of friendship founded on respect and equality, commonly referred to as “Sandugo.”
Baclayon Church Museum - Contrary to popular belief, Bohol is not only famous for the Chocolate Hills or the sparkling waters of Alona Beach. With its rich history tied to the spread of Christianity, Bohol is also renowned for its historic churches, including the immaculate Baclayon Church. The Immaculate Conception Church of Baclayon, widely known as Baclayon Church, is one of Bohol’s most treasured sacred sites. The church’s origins date back to 1596, established by Father Gabriel Sanchez and Father Juan de Torres, the first Spanish Jesuit priests to arrive in Cebu.
Bohol Python and Wildlife Park - The largest python in captivity resides in Alburquerque, Bohol. This python measures over 25 feet in length and is fed one small pig monthly. The Bohol Python and Wildlife Park is an enjoyable and educational destination for those interested in wildlife conservation. The tour takes approximately 30 to 45 minutes to explore the entire park. Visitors can also see many other animals, including a rescued Philippine Eagle. Without the Bohol Python Sanctuary and Wildlife Park, these animals might not survive in the wild due to injuries from other animals or humans attempting to capture them for profit.
Tarsier Conservation Area - The Tarsier Conservation Area is a six-hectare woodland located in Barangay Upper Bonbon, Loboc town. Situated near the Loboc section of the man-made forest, this area is the new home for captive tarsiers previously displayed for tourists along the Loboc River. The tarsier (Tarsius syrichta fraterculus) is the mascot of Bohol tourism and is known locally by various names such as mamag, mago, magau, maomag, malmag, and magatilok-iok. For years, tarsiers along the Loboc riverbank were subjected to poking, flash photography, excessive petting, and force-feeding by tourists. Display owners faced criticism for allowing this. A three-hectare area is now available for tarsier viewing, featuring pebbled pathways and a thatched-roof waiting area with tarsier souvenirs to accommodate visitors.
Chocolate Hills Natural Monument - The Chocolate Hills in Bohol is a renowned tourist attraction in the Philippines, celebrated for its unique and majestic features. There are over 1,000 symmetrical mounds, both conical and dome-shaped, often compared to Hershey’s Kisses. The name “Chocolate Hills” comes not from their composition but from their color. During the rainy season, the grass covering the hills gives them a lush appearance, while in summer, the vegetation turns a chocolatey brown, giving them their name.
Sotera’s ATV Rides - Optional Tour - Sotera’s ATV Rides is a popular sports and recreation activity located in Chocolate Hills, Buenos Aires, Carmen, Bohol, Philippines, listed under sports and recreation in Bohol.
Loboc River - Loboc, Bohol, is home to the famous Loboc Children’s Choir and is renowned for its peaceful municipality and the well-known Loboc River. This river is one of the cleanest in the country and is a must-see during Bohol tours. Visitors can enjoy a cruise along the river on a floating restaurant. The Loboc River Dinner Cruise begins at the Loay Bridge in the neighboring town of Loay or at the Loboc town proper, offering a variety of river cruising vessels. The cruise typically lasts about an hour round trip.
Bilar Man-Made Forest - The Bohol Forest is a man-made mahogany forest spanning a two-kilometer stretch of densely planted mahogany trees located on the border of Loboc and Bilar towns. Before and after this man-made forest are naturally grown forests of Loboc and Bilar, rich with diverse green foliage, various tree species, and giant ferns lining the road. The man-made forest is notable for the uniform height of the large trees, the spread of their branches, and the design of their leaves. Seedlings thrive around the older trees, with trunks growing straight up towards the sky, obscured by branches and thick leaves. The tree roots are visually striking as they protrude from the ground, crawl over boulders, and contour the land, even reaching the sides of the road.
Aproniana Gift Shop - Before returning home, a visit to Aproniana, a souvenir shop in Bohol, is recommended. The gift shop is located in Taguihon, Baclayon, Bohol, Philippines, about 10 minutes from Baclayon Church.
