Central Market - In the afternoon, begin your tour with a visit to the Central Market, constructed in 1937 during the French colonial era. It offers a variety of goods including gold and silver jewelry, electronics, clothing, imitation watches and bags, suitcases, dried and fresh foods, and numerous souvenirs.
Wat Langka - Next, visit Wat Lanka, one of Phnom Penh’s oldest pagodas. It was founded as a sanctuary for the Holy Writings and a meeting place for Cambodian and Sri Lankan monks.
Independence Monument - Then, proceed to the Independence Monument, inspired by the central tower of Angkor Wat. Built in 1958, it commemorates Cambodia’s independence from France in 1953 and serves as a memorial for the country’s war casualties. Wreaths are placed here on national holidays.
Aeon Mall - The final stop is the 68,000-square-meter Aeon Mall, featuring brand stores like Sheridan, Mango, Levi’s, and Adidas. The top floor hosts a large food court and a modern entertainment complex, including a cinema, karaoke lounge, bowling, arcades, and even ice skating!
Phnom Penh Highlights
Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum - Embark on a discovery tour of Phnom Penh. At 8:00 am, your driver and guide will meet you. Gain insight into Cambodia’s recent history at the Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum, a former school turned detention center during the Khmer Rouge.
Choeung Ek Genocidal Center - Equally poignant are the Killing Fields of Choeung Ek. These visits are challenging but crucial for understanding the country’s history.
Russian Market - The remainder of the day is lighter, with a visit to the Russian Market, Cambodia’s largest, offering everything from carvings to jewelry, clothes, and souvenirs. Enjoy lunch at a local restaurant featuring Khmer delicacies.
Wat Phnom - In the afternoon, visit Wat Phnom, a stunning hilltop temple with beautifully maintained gardens.
Royal Palace - Followed by a visit to the Royal Palace and Silver Pagoda, named for the 5,000 silver tiles covering the pagoda’s floor, renowned for its collection of gold, silver, crystal, and bronze Buddha statues.
Mekong River - Conclude the day with a sunset cruise on the Mekong River before returning to your hotel.
Phnom Penh to Siem Reap
Phnom Penh International Airport - In the morning, transfer to the bus station or airport for your journey to Siem Reap City. The bus ride takes approximately 6 hours, while a flight takes 1 hour.
Siem Reap International Airport - Upon arrival in Siem Reap city, meet your guide and transfer to your hotel for check-in.
Artisans Angkor - In the afternoon, embark on a Half-Day City Tour. The first stop is Artisans D’ Angkor, a local artisan boutique established to support Cambodian arts and crafts. Discover the creation of wood and stone carvings, lacquering, gilding, and silk paintings.
Wat Thmey (Killing Fields) - Next, visit Wat Thmei, one of the killing field memorials, featuring a small memorial stupa containing the skulls and bones of victims from the Khmer Rouge regime between 1975 and 1979.
Psar Chaa - Old Market - The final stop of the day is The Old Market, the oldest Khmer market in Siem Reap. Explore vendors selling souvenirs such as clothes, jewelry, and more. Enjoy dinner at a local restaurant before returning to your hotel.
Angkor Highlights & Phare Circus
Angkor Thom - At 8:00 am, you will be picked up from your hotel for the day’s tour. The first visit is the South Gate, with its massive statues depicting the churning of the ocean of milk, and see the ancient capital of Angkor Thom, built in the late 12th century. Then, proceed to Bayon temple, unique for its 54 towers adorned with over 200 smiling faces of Avalokitesvara. Baphuon resembles an artificial mountain, recently reopened after years of restoration. Following this, visit the Royal Enclosure, the Elephants Terrace, and the Terrace of the Leper King.
Ta Prohm - Continue to the popular temple of Ta Prohm, the modern name of the temple at Angkor, built in the late 12th to early 13th centuries, famously known as the location where the Tomb Raider movie was filmed.
Angkor Wat - Enjoy a Khmer feast for lunch at a local restaurant. After lunch, continue to the magnificent Angkor Wat Temple, Angkor park’s most revered temple and the largest religious monument in the world. Inside, the temple walls are adorned with stone carvings and bas-reliefs that are truly breathtaking. Your guide will explain the stories behind the exquisite details and provide ample time to explore the temple’s inner and outer grounds.
Phare, The Cambodian Circus - For a special final evening in Siem Reap, attend a show of the Cambodian Traditional Circus. More than just a circus, Phare performers use theater, music, dance, and modern circus arts to narrate uniquely Cambodian stories, both historical and contemporary. The young circus artists will amaze you with their energy, emotion, enthusiasm, and talent.
