Once everyone is collected, the team will head to the meeting point at the Cambodia Post Office or directly to the ferry crossing the Mekong River.
The Post Office, designed by French town planner and architect Daniel Fabre around 1895, is situated in the former European or French district. This administrative building lends its name to the square where it stands, “Place de la Poste.”
- Koh Dach - After crossing the ferry and arriving on the island in the Mekong, participants will mount bicycles, and the guide will provide a brief overview of the cycling itinerary and what can be expected from the tour. Several islands are located upstream on the Mekong River, offering the best way to explore village life and fruit and vegetable orchards, including cucumber, corn, ginger, lemongrass, papaya, eggplants, and other plantations like banana and mango. During this cycling journey, there will also be a visit to a silk weaving workshop, showcasing the traditional weaving practices of many villages along the Mekong River.
- Wat Krapum Pech - Theravada Buddhism is the official religion in Cambodia, practiced by 95 percent of the population. Cambodia currently has 5,104 Buddhist pagodas with 70,905 monks. Monks belong to two sects: the Mohanikaya Buddhist sect and the Thammayut Buddhist sect. The Mohanikaya Buddhist sect has 4,843 pagodas with 68,476 monks, while the Thammayut Buddhist sect has 261 pagodas with 2,429 monks.
Although Buddhism is the main religion in Cambodia, other religions are also practiced, such as Islam and Christianity.
After learning about Buddhism and other religions in Cambodia, the tour continues with a visit to a local business specializing in the Bean Curd Drying Process before heading to a floating restaurant for lunch.
- Phnom Penh - After enjoying a relaxing and refreshing local lunch at the floating restaurant, participants will cycle back to the bike party and board the ferry to meet the Tuk Tuk or minivan for the return journey to their hotel in Phnom Penh, concluding a wonderful cycling experience with Vana Adventure Travel on the island of the Mekong.
