Royal Palace, Wat Phnom, Independence Monument & Diamond Island
Royal Palace - We will pick you up from your hotel and transfer you to the Royal Palace. Explore the magnificent Royal Palace complex, the residence of the Cambodian royal family and a national symbol. Start in the beautiful royal gardens, adorned with tropical plants and gleaming spires. Visit the Throne Hall, where royal receptions are held and the Cambodian king’s coronation took place. Pass by the Napoleon III Pavilion, an iron structure gifted by the French emperor in the 19th century. Continue to the Silver Pagoda, named for its 5000 silver tiles, each weighing 1kg. Inside, discover some of the country’s most treasured artifacts, including a life-size gold Buddha encrusted with 9584 diamonds, the largest weighing 25 carats.
Wat Phnom - Next, visit Wat Phnom, a symbol of the city. Situated on one of the few hills in this flat capital, the first pagoda was built in 1373 to house Buddha statues found in the Mekong by a woman named Penh. This is how the city got its name, Phnom Penh, or Hill of Penh. Locals come to the shrine to pray for luck in love, life, employment, and exams, making it a bustling place.
Independence Monument - Visit the Independence Monument, built in 1958 and inaugurated in 1962 during the Sangkum Reastr regime. This monument commemorates those who sacrificed their lives for the country’s welfare. Its serene atmosphere makes it a popular destination.
Diamond Island Park - Stroll along the riverside of the Mekong River. Diamond Island, a satellite city in Phnom Penh on the Mekong and Bassac rivers, was a swamp until 2000. It is now being developed as a residential and commercial area and may become a separate municipality. A neighborhood named “Elysée” is inspired by Paris. Return to your hotel and drop off.
Phnom Penh: Toul Sleng-Killing Field and Market
Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum - We will pick you up from your hotel and transfer you to Tuol Sleng, a former high school turned into a center for interrogation, torture, and death by the Khmer Rouge. Now a museum of torture, it serves as a reminder of the atrocities that occurred in Cambodia. 17,000 people passed through this prison, with only seven survivors. This experience is not for everyone, but it is crucial to understanding Cambodia’s dark history and its progress since then.
Choeung Ek Genocidal Center - Travel out of town to the Killing Fields of Choeng Ek, where prisoners from Tuol Sleng were taken. Once a Chinese cemetery, Choeng Ek became an extermination camp for political prisoners. The remains of 8985 people were exhumed from mass graves and are kept in a memorial stupa. Despite its tragic past, it is a peaceful place for reflection.
Central Market - Visit the impressive Central Market, a city landmark completed by the French in 1937. Known as Psar Thmei or New Market, its huge dome is well-ventilated. The market offers a wide variety of goods, but be cautious as it has a reputation for overcharging. Return to your hotel and drop off.
Phnom Penh-Battambang by Private Transportation
Battambang - Depart from Phnom Penh at 8 AM for Battambang province, located in northwest Cambodia and bordering Thailand. Known for its rice production, the province’s economy relies heavily on agriculture. Along the way, stop at Kompung Chnang to see pottery workers and at Posat to view marble Buddha statues.
Battambang - Upon arrival, check into your hotel. Take a city tour, visiting Sangker Riverbank, the old statue of Ta Dambong Kranhung, and ride the unique Bamboo train. Return to your hotel and drop off.
Battambang: Ek Phnom Temple, Village Tour, and Bat Cave Sunset
Prasat Ek Phnom - We will pick you up from your hotel and transfer you to Ek Phnom, an 11th-century Angkorian ruin built as a Hindu temple under Suryavarman I. Visit a fermented fish paste market and local producers of spring rolls, bamboo sticky rice, and a Buddhist monastery.
Battambang Bat Caves - In the afternoon, visit Phnom Sambov, steeped in legend and topped by Wat Sampeou and caves used as “Killing caves” by the Khmer Rouge. Watch thousands of bats fly out for their nightly feeding. Return to your hotel and drop off.
Battambang-Siem Reap-Temple Tour with Sunset on Bakheng Hill
Angkor Thom - We will pick you up from your hotel and check out. Transfer to Siem Reap. Upon arrival, visit Bayon, where 216 enigmatic faces gaze over the horizon. Your guide will point out the best photography angles and explain the intricate carvings. Continue to Baphuon, with its long causeway and impressive Reclining Buddha, reassembled in 2011 after a 37-year disruption due to war. Phimeanakas, hidden in the jungle, offers a view over the treetops for those who climb its steep steps. Explore the Esplanade of the Royal Palace, also known as the Terrace of the Elephants, and end in the shaded area of Preah Palilay.
Phnom Bakheng - Head to Bakheng Hill for a beautiful sunset with views of the five lotus-like Angkor Wat towers. Return to your hotel and drop off.
Temple Tour to Angkor Wat, Banteay Srey, Banteay Samre & Ta Prohm Temples
Banteay Srei - We will pick you up from your hotel in Siem Reap and transfer you to Banteay Srei, known for its delicate carvings in pink sandstone. This late 10th-century structure is compact and unique among Angkorian temples.
Banteay Samre - Visit Banteay Samre, built in the third quarter of the 12th century. It features a central temple with four wings, a hall, and two libraries, all enclosed by two concentric walls.
Ta Prohm Temple - Next, visit Ta Prohm, made famous by the movie Tomb Raider. The temple is known for the intricate relationship between the roots of Spung trees and ancient stones. It’s a photographer’s paradise, so don’t miss the chance to capture your own explorer moments.
Angkor Wat - In the afternoon, visit Angkor Wat, an architectural masterpiece built in the 12th century. Covering 81 hectares, it is one of the largest religious monuments ever built and represents the height of Khmer civilization. Return to your hotel and drop off.
Temples-Tonle Sap & City Tour
Roluos Temples - We will pick you up from your hotel and transfer you to the late 9th-century Hindu temples Bakong, Lolei, and Preah Ko, collectively known as the Roluos group. Located 15km west of Siem Reap, these temples are away from the main Angkor Archaeological Park. Explore the early capital of Angkor, with the pyramid-like Bakong being the most impressive.
Kompong Phluk - Visit Kompong Phluk, an authentic stilted village on the edge of Tonle Sap Lake. The Khmer, Vietnamese, and Cham people live in harmony with the lake’s changing water levels. Most households own boats and motorbikes, as roads become water channels during the monsoon. The eerie Flooded Forest is accessible by boat during the wet season.
Artisans Angkor - To lighten the mood, visit the Artisans d’Angkor workshop, where skilled artists create beautiful lacquer, stone carvings, and silver plating. If you don’t find your souvenirs here, the Old Market might have what you’re looking for. Return to your hotel and end of our service.
