A nice walk in the Zoo - A great zoological park heavy on the birds and animals that are from arid regions. We visited after a 3 day closure sue to storms - and some exhibits were still closed due to damage.

We enjoyed our visit and... - We enjoyed our visit and would definitely visit again! Be prepared for the sun! Allow time for breaks to cool down and stay hydrated!

Easy and simple to use. Great Zoo. - It was super easy to get into the Phoenix zoo with the digital tickets on Viator. The zoo is great, with lots to see. The only thing to know is that the zoo closes at 1 pm in the summer due to heat. So you need to go early in the day.

To hot to trot slow and easy - The zoo is bigger than it looks from outside. They have scooter you could rent to cruise the zoo bit there are parts that are no ride zones, like the monkey village. Drink plenty of liquid it can be very hot. Zoo it's only open from 7::00 am to 1:00 pm from June through August then the hrs change . They have a gallery that changes theme every month, and of course a gift shop.

Good, not great. - The zoo is very organized, very close to the city, and well maintained. Its a very pretty place with different animals to see. Must of the animals we resting far from the viewing point, and we couldn't see or interact with must of them. We expected more from the experience, maybe we had bad luck with the specific moment we went.

Best to wait for Winter, if at all.... - Not sure if having a big diverse zoo is a wise investment for a community like Phoenix. Went to a half dozen habitats before seeing our 1st actual animal. They've all found a cool spot that isn't visible to visititors. We continued to come upon several more habitats where the animals are purposely absent,I assume again because of the heat. There is an Arizona Trail with indigenous animals to the state that were more present. But even there, the big cats and other animals from the mountain regions were hiding. We gave up after 2½ hours between the heat & the boredom. Exiting thru the gift shop I usually buy a patch & a pin from places I visit that are typically $5-6. Here they were $11-14 so I passed I used expiring Viator points to purchase our tickets, otherwise I would have been PO'ed about spending $35 each for our tickets. Didn't leave yearning to come back and try again in more moderate temperatures.

Unmet potential - This zoo and layout has a lot of unmet potential. There are large enclosures with few animals. I’m not convinced they have an elephant. Could be a great zoo, but needs work.

Could do better - The zoo is extensive and quite a lot of walking but not a problem to us. We are seasoned travellers and is lacking compared with many zoos we have visited. It lacks major animals! One bear, One tiger, Only saw one giraffe though supposed to be more, one leopard, etc. No elephant. Most of the big cats except the lions had no company and exhibited classic boredom pacing back and fourth. Lots of empty exhibits, got annoyed seeing "Animals temporarily off exhibitive". Some of cages and enclosures poor and not up to modern standards. Most cafes closed. Nowhere to get food. Pricey for what it is then you have to pay extra to see manta rays etc. Bit dissappointing.

Phoenix Zoo - It was 116 degrees the day we had pre purchased tickets for - too hot to be outside for 3-4 hours so we didn’t go! We were really disappointed because we visit the zoo every place we visit. So we spent $144 for nothing
