Your Mad Desert Trekking guide will meet you at Starbucks, 3165 E. Lincoln Drive, Phoenix, near the trailhead to the Phoenix Mountains Preserve. Please use the parking lot to the west. Uber and Lyft offer convenient drop-off service at Starbucks.

Fantastic Experience! - Absolutely perfect sunset hike! Our group of six had a fantastic time with Jay! He was very prepared with headlights, extra water, backpacks and all the possibly needed survival gear plus snacks for the summit! We felt safe with him and he was extremely knowledgeable. The hike was just right in length and difficulty. Would highly highly recommend this tour.

Amazing hike! - This was one of the highlights of our trip for sure! We were so lucky to have Jay as our guide. He provided everything for us and made us feel like true hikers. We were a family of 4 with two kids under 10 and we did the sunset tour. My kids who did not want to take the hike ended up loving it so much that they asked to do it again on this trip. I would say that it had a lot to do with Jay. He was so knowledgeable and protective with my kids which I appreciated so much. He was incredibly good with them that by the end it almost felt like we had known him for a long time. I wish all tours had this great of a guide! The hike itself was not rigorous and was super easy for the kids. The view once we reached the top was incredible. Once the sun started setting we could still see the city lights and were lucky enough to encounter a few wildlife from a distance. The bonus were the incredible pictures taken by Jay that we would not have been able to get had we gone by ourselves. We would definitely do this again!

Sunset in the desert - Our sunset hike led by Steve Hill was fantastic. Steve knew exactly where to go - and timed our relatively leisurely hike up the hill - for us to experience a magnificent sunset over the Sonoran Desert. With time to spare, Steve suggested an additional hike that provided us with more spectacular views and more time to absorb Steve's vast knowledge of the desert plants, wildlife and folklore. The hike was unforgettable.

Beautiful sunset hike - just do it! - I had an amazing hike with Doug as my guide. I assumed I’d be put with a group since I was a solo traveler, but I got a private hike. Doug is a VERY accomplished hiker/climbing instructor so I felt safe at all times. We had great conversations as we sat at the summit and watched the sun set. I highly recommend this hike if you want to get some exercise and be rewarded with amazing views.

Romantic Valentines Hike - My husband and I were visiting from out-of-state and greatly enjoyed our hike with Jay and James. They reached out ahead of our visit with directions and greeted us upon arrival. The guides were very knowledgeable about the native plants and their properties. Additionally, they offered to take photos throughout the trip and gave us a few snacks. Our hike was on Valentine’s Day so it was extra special. I’m glad we did it and would recommend to other visitors. They also offered us trekking poles and headlights to ensure a safe hike.

Beautiful sunset hike experience with Dialinda - Dialinda was an amazing guide! She is a wealth of information about the area and a really cool person. We learned so much on our hike. It was cloudy the day we hiked but we had a great time seeing lots of interesting things (cactus, quartz, bird nests and amazing views). When we reached the peak, the sun broke through the clouds for a spectacular sunset that she captured so beautifully on camera for us while we enjoyed being in the moment. It was the perfect way to start our desert vacation! 10/10 recommend hiking with Dialinda!!
