Kayaking and Starfish Adventures in Phu Quoc: A Day of Natural Wonders
When I heard about the chance to kayak the Cua Can River and explore Phu Quoc’s Starfish Beach, I knew I had to experience it for myself. Join me as I recount a day filled with serene river paddling, jungle walks, and the vibrant marine life of Starfish Bay.
Kayaking the Cua Can River
The day began with a gentle paddle down the Cua Can River. As someone who thrives on budget-friendly adventures, I was thrilled to find that this activity was both affordable and breathtaking. The river was a serene escape, with lush greenery lining the banks and the occasional glimpse of local river life. The 40 minutes we spent kayaking felt like a perfect balance of activity and relaxation. For those who preferred a more laid-back experience, there was an option to join a shared boat tour instead. But for me, the kayak was the way to go, offering a more intimate connection with the surroundings.
A Walk Through the Jungle to Starfish Bay
After our river adventure, we hopped back on the tour bus and made our way to the jungle trail leading to Starfish Bay. The hike was more of a leisurely walk, with easy terrain that even the most novice of hikers could manage. As we strolled through the jungle, I couldn’t help but marvel at the natural beauty around me. The highlight, of course, was reaching Starfish Bay, where the water was teeming with vibrant starfish. It was a sight to behold and a reminder of the simple wonders that nature offers.
Lunch at the Floating Village and Relaxation at Starfish Beach
Our next stop was the floating village, where we had the option to enjoy a buffet lunch or order from the menu. I opted for the latter, choosing a sweet and sour pork dish and a satay Cobia steak. The Cobia was a revelation—fresh, flavorful, and one of the best fish dishes I’ve had in my travels. After lunch, we took a boat transfer to Starfish Beach. The beach was a tranquil haven, with warm, clean waters and plenty of starfish to admire. I spent two blissful hours soaking up the sun and swimming in the sea, feeling grateful for the freedom to explore at my own pace. The day ended with a relaxed boat transfer back to the bus, and I returned to my hotel with a heart full of memories and a newfound appreciation for Phu Quoc’s natural beauty.
