CUSCO – CLOUD FOREST – PILCOPATA
Pillcopata - Departing from Cusco in the morning, the journey begins in a comfortable bus. The route ascends to the upper region of Paucartambo. Along the way, there is a visit to the funerary towers or Chullpas of Ninamarca. The descent continues through the enchanting cloud forest, abundant with stunning orchids, heliconias, and ancient ferns. A stop is made to allow observation of the rooster of the rocks (RupÃcola peruviana) during its mating ritual. There are also chances to see trogons (Trogon sp.) and various other bird species. With some luck, the elusive spectacled bear (Tremarctos ornatus), the only bear in South America, might be spotted. In the afternoon, arrival at a charming hostel with bathrooms and showers is expected, where the night will be spent. OPTIONAL CANOPY WALKWAY
PILCOPATA – ATALAYA - PAITITI
Manu National Park - After breakfast, the journey continues by bus, followed by a hike to observe numerous birds. The route includes a visit to coca leaf plantations before reaching the port of Atalaya. Here, a boat ride of approximately 30 minutes leads to the lodge for an overnight stay. In the afternoon, there is an opportunity to explore the jungle, followed by a night walk. Overnight stay at the lodge with available bathrooms and showers.
PAITITI HOSTEL – COLLPA DE LOROS - COCHA MACHUHUASI
Manu National Park - An early morning boat trip takes visitors to the collpa de loros, where 3 to 4 species of parrots and small macaws can be observed. The journey continues by boat to Machuhuasi, followed by a walk to the Machuhuasi lagoon. Here, rafts or catamarans are available for approximately 1 hour of navigation, offering views of a wide variety of birds, monkeys, small reptiles, dwarf caimans, and insects. In the afternoon, return to the lodge for lunch. Optional night walks are available.
ATALAYA – CUSCO
Cusco - After a delightful breakfast, the return journey begins by boat from the Paititi hostel to the port of Atalaya, where a bus awaits to take travelers back to Cusco. The route once again passes through the mystical cloud forest, heading towards the Imperial city of Cusco. Estimated arrival is between 6:00 and 7:00 pm.
