THE BEST!!!! - This was a special trip with my mom and our first time to Portugal. I found this tour on one of my travel blogs and I can say this was one of the BEST tours I have ever been on…and I travel a lot! Norberto was absolutely incredible and took us to one of the most amazing wineries in Douro Valley followed by exploring some true gems of the area. And we ate a traditional Portuguese meal with views I will never forget! He is passionate with incredible knowledge of his county. I loved our tour so much that I would highly recommend to anyone AND when I travel to the lovely country of Portugal again, I will be contacting Norberto! Thank YOU for truly the most wonderful experience EVER!

If you miss this, did you even visit Porto/Duoro Valley?! INCREDIBLE tour - WOW WOW WOW I cannot recommend this company enough. Above and Beyond, truly. We had such an incredible experience from start to finish. Our guide Tómas was so friendly and sweet and full of knowledge. He also was smart to not overkill us with the same info or spoil info we would learn on other parts of the tour, which I thought was so intentional! We had an incredible private boat tour of Duoro Valley with very passionate guides that taught us everything about the origin of port wine and the valley’s significance, we had the BEST lunch ever full of the most delicious food and drinks, we had great tours and the family winery we went to was stunning. All around just such a great time and so worth every penny. This was a pricier excursion on the trip, but hands down the best one!

Book a private tour with Luis! - Our private Douro River Valley day trip (just my husband and me) was the highlight of our time in Porto, thanks to our wonderful driver and guide, Luis. We started with coffee at a charming café and a walk across a beautiful bridge, followed by a one-hour boat cruise. Lunch in a Portuguese home was absolutely fantastic, and the port tasting at a local wine quinta was the perfect finale. Luis, who holds several degrees including one in history, shared fascinating insights about Portugal and the Valley throughout the day. He was not only an excellent guide but also a skilled driver. Don’t hesitate to book this private tour with Luis—it’s truly worth every penny!

Don’t miss this tour! - This adventure offered seamless and excellent communication with Norberto from start to finish. Transport began at a prompt 8:30 am in a new passenger van with two oversized sunroofs. Waters were provided along with a thorough history on the Douro Valley in very fluent English. Norbertos love and passion for the Douro and his country shine clear all day. The first winery offered a cellar tour and very upscale outdoor tasting area (bring a jacket if you get cool). It was harvesting time so after tasting the freshly picked grapes, we viewed them in the cement knee deep containers waiting to be stomped by foot. This is an old fashioned winery doing all their processing by hand including harvesting. After another scenic drive we were at the 50 minute boat tour. We had about 20 minutes to use the restrooms and grab a snack which I would recommend as lunch is at the last winery around 2 pm. The small covered boat held about 12 people plus two guides who provided history of the valley in both English and Portuguese. Life jackets were in clear view and the boat was clean and comfortable and you entered by ducking under the canopy and swinging your leg over. The last winery started out in the back of an old dusty building where Norberto stood outside and rang the huge bell for entry. An iron gate blocked our view and when the gate swung opened Norberto was welcomed like long lost family. We entered a huge magical garden with tents, trees and beautiful light where you felt like you had traveled back in time. The kitchen tour looked like it was from the 1600’s where the food was being cooked over open flame. Norberto dined with us at a table under the beautiful trees as we were served a multi course meal of outstanding food and wine. My husband still raves about the meat selection and the overall quality and varied selection of food. After lunch we were treated to a demonstration of wine bottle opening with fire. I used Grok AI to search tours in the Douro Valley and Norberto’s name was in high regard. An initial link for a small deposit is emailed upon booking and the final payment link sent days before the trip. Stop looking around and just book it.

It Doesn’t Get Better Than This!!!! - WOW! How do I give Norberto 10 stars!!!! Norberto Pinto is prompt, professional, VERY knowledgeable, engaging and fun. He treats you like family. We had a magical day in Douro Valley. He knows exactly where the most stunning views are and arranged a wine tasting at a traditional winery without tour buses and crowds. Top that off with a boat cruise down the valley and delicious lunch and you have the perfect day! When we ended our day, we felt like we were leaving a good friend behind. BRAVO, Norberto! Thank you for the priceless memories!

Great trip to Douro Valley by Norberto - Norberto was truly fabulous. He made a full day excursion very enjoyable and interesting. Of all the tours we took, we found him to have been the best guide. Highly recommend him.

Something a bit special - This tour was the highlight of our holiday. Certainly one of them anyhow! The whole thing worked like clockwork, Norberto was there to collect us on time. Norberto is a clever chap so don’t just talk to him about the weather; be sure to use his knowledge. During our drives from place-to-place Norberto gave us an insight into what it is like to live in Portugal, past through to present. Norberto’s company was a pleasure and by the end of the day we both agreed we’d happily talk to him forever. The tour itself was relaxed, no rush. The wineries we visited were clearly expecting us and treated us as such, it was personal, warm and friendly each time. At each stop everyone involved had a great knowledge of their subject and happily answered any questions we had. The scenery was spectacular and Norberto told us about the micro climates that allow each valley to produce different products based upon their presenting climate. We had a river tour with Douro Tours, along the river Douro, be sure to check out these guys. They made it fun and interesting. Be sure to get some of their locally made, not for market Port off them! Yummy! Lastly, no British person leaves a review without talking about food. We dined at the second winery we visited. Everything was cooked on an open range, traditional Portuguese style, and my word can these guys cook! It was delicious! This was followed up by an opening of a vintage Port (the heating of the bottle neck and rapid cooling) it was spectacular! If you are hesitating over the book or don’t book decision….book, book now! You won’t regret it! Thank you Norberto!

Wonderful excursion - In August of this year we went on a trip to the Douro Valley with Norberto with three adults and our 9-year-old son. The day began with a wine and port tasting, where we were impressed by the high quality of the wines. Norberto was always attentive to our group and even spontaneously organized a small meal when our son got hungry. Afterwards, we enjoyed a beautiful Douro river trip, which was a lot of fun. The day was rounded off by an excellent lunch that Norberto had carefully selected. The whole organization and communication in advance were flawless and very professional. Norberto took a lot of time for us and explained everything to us very understandably. We can highly recommend a trip with him and his team.

Amazing Douro valley tour! - We booked a private Douro Valley tour for 4 with Joao and could not have asked for a better experience! Booking was easy with fast commutations from Norberto. Joao picked us up and was an amazing, knowledgeable and personal tour guide. We learned so much about Portugal’s history and culture. He shuttled us around all day in a nice air conditioned van. The boat ride was awesome (we had a little boat all to ourselves!) and lunch was at this amazing private little winery (they were wonderful about working with dietary restrictions). We also toured a second winery, where the owner gave the tour himself, and it was both funny and informative. Joao then dropped us off at the train station. It was such an incredible experience. Highly recommended! Thank you so much, Joao! We all enjoyed ourselves so much (probably had 11-12 different kinds of wine)!

Amazing tour through Douro valley! - We had one of the best experiences on our tour with Norberto through the Douro valley. He picked our group up from Porto then took us to this adorable town where he grew up called Amarante. They had some very interesting pastries there as well. Then we left to our first winery, a smaller one in the valley, where we got to taste 60 year old white port - seriously the best port I've ever had! Then we went to an authentic Portuguese lunch in a charming town, on to a gorgeous viewpoint, and river cruise. Last we went to one of the bigger wineries along the river which had it's own orange and lemon trees that they let us taste from. Throughout Norberto was an amazing guide - answering all our questions and even providing his own dessert wine at the viewpoint! We thoroughly enjoyed our day and would definitely book again if in this area again.
