In 1922, Greeks who had resided in Asia Minor for centuries were compelled to leave their homes and relocate to Piraeus. Their journey resembled an ancient Greek tragedy. This tour highlights how the refugees from the Asia Minor Catastrophe managed to survive in Piraeus and Athens. Participants will explore significant locations in the port areas of Drapetsona, Nikaia, and the northern suburbs of Athens. The tour includes visits to industrial sites, abandoned mansions, historical landmarks, museums, and churches. Guests will also enjoy a meal at a tavern serving Greek Minor Asia cuisine. Today, the Asia Minor Refugees are recognized as a fundamental part of Greek culture, having enriched it with their energy and virtues. Please note that tickets to museums and lunch are not included in the tour price.
