In 1922, Greeks who had resided in Asia Minor (now Turkey) for centuries were compelled to leave their homes and relocate to Piraeus. Their journey resembled an ancient Greek tragedy. This tour highlights how the refugees from the Asia Minor Catastrophe managed to survive in Piraeus. Participants will explore significant locations in the port, Drapetsona, and Nikaia. The tour includes visits to industrial sites, deserted mansions, historical landmarks, and churches. Guests will also enjoy a meal at a tavern serving Greek Asia Minor cuisine.
Today, the Asia Minor refugees are recognized as a fundamental part of Greek culture, having enriched it with their energy and virtues.
